I moved from US to India. In USA, I used to do most of my shopping online via Amazon.com and Ebay.com. So I am interested in doing the same. I want to buy some appliances from Snapdeal.com and Ebay.in. How reliable are these websites? How is their customer service and Dispute resolution (if it occurs). Please share your experience and insights

ebay.in hi feedback sellers, flipkart are best in india..
snapdeal is not that good..
HS18 used to be good..now very slow..otherwise ok.

yu can go with e bay.in no problem at all..check seller FB %..above 98 is quite good
i am a reguler

E-bay is reliable as long as the seller is reputed and I will also recommend flipkart and amazon.in over snapdeal. For books and other branded electronics items Indiatimes Shopping is good. But don't fall for their Times of India AD which runs every day for crap products.

for computer and electronics > Theitdepot
Infibeam.com is also reliable
if you are a gamer then > Game4u
for fashion you can check out http://www.yebhi.com

Try to opt for COD every-time! As you are now in India, better get accustomed to IST
Indian Stretchable Time (which is the standard time for customer care service)!

Oh I forgot to mention hifimart.com They are very reliable.

i am against cod as u will lose coupon offers..however thats personal opinion..
had bad exps with infibeam,ezoneonline...but no ultimate problem..every time refunded..maybe aftger 2 months....hehe
had never bad exp with e bay reputed sellers

Whatever you buy, just look for manufacturer warranty and vat paid bill to be on safer side, avoid items with seller/Dealer warranty.

If you compare ebay.com with ebay.in I guess you would be disappointed. The Indian version is not as good as the us version.

Other than that ebay is very good if you are buying from sellers with high positive feedback.

Flipkart used to be very good but after they have moved to the marketplace model I am not very sure how would the quality suffer.

Havent used snapdeal as price is always high as compared to ebay or flipkart.

on flipkart, choose WS Retail which is flipkart itself. Even in the US amazon has moved to marketplace model

After the marketplace model there inventory is also quite less. Recently bought 2 cellphones from flipkart as the seller was ws retail.

However for other products when there is different seller I guess I would prefer ebay.

I had a very bad experience with W S Retail. Cancelled my order after about 10 days and even did not inform me. Some of my friends order's were also cancelled even if products still listed in the website as "available".

Sadly E-retail in India is worst with no reliability and accountability.

I have always had good experience with flipkart. They even sms the name of the person delivering. It is great when my mom has to open the door - she asks for the name first, because these days lot of times robbers try to break into your house by pretending to be courier guys. Small thing, but it is so helpful.

I have ordered few Times from flipkart and luckily there were no issues. While being out of stock is 1 thing not informing the customer for about 10 days is very wrong.

I have used both Flipkart and Snapdeal. Flipkart so far is excellent. No issues with any of the order (from electronic to movies to book all are on time).

Snapdeal except for few orders initially, part of which were cancelled (I think the deal they offered was too good for them to honour) .. All the new orders reached me on time. I have used both online payment and CoD.

Infibeam also is good so far, no issue with any of the order, except for one. In that case, they said they don't have any stock, but they failed to inform me even after 7 days. Only after I contacted the CC, he told me so. In any case, I went for an alternate colour option costing the same. So not a big issue so far with any online purchases so far.

I have bought things from Flipkart the most, Snapdeal, Landmarkonthenet, Tradus etc. Tradus used to be okay in the beginning. Flipkart is good. Snapdeal is okay too. Landmarkonthenet gave me dvds instead of the displayed acds, but they gave me a refund in the form of gift coupon which I used to buy other cds.

which is the best(reliable as well as cheap) online shopping site to buy led tv's with manufacturer warranty.

i am a reguler in online shopping..still suggest tvs from local stores..
as it is a fragile product..well everything gets solved ..but if you hate super follow ups..better avoid online tv purchase..

btw had a very bad exp from snapdeal..they forgot to add soem docs and my package is stuck in midway..this was first and last from snapdeal..
now tons of follow up for cancelling the order
avoid snapdeal..

If you dont mind can you please share what was the invoice value and if they mentioned which form they forgot to add?

Because as per bluedart and fedex vat form 50a is required for shipments to bengal and that has to be submitted by the buyer!

Though as per the latest guidelines of fedex they are in the process of getting entry form exempted!

Since you are a regular buyer can you please tell through which courier companies you regularly get courier.

I am asking this as I have trouble sending couriers to west bengal as no buyer provides the form and no good company take the product without the form.

i stay in tatanagar..so for the shipments are for here..my old house is in kokata..
value 4500,and i regulerly get amounts more than this..and less..by all courier..
even the names we dont know like maruti, natuional etc..
this is via blue dart...written detained by regulatory,,

and i know state selaes tax form is needed sometimes..and i clarify that always from seller if itm is of higher cost..but this is just a cpu cooler...and i get stuffs like this without any hassle from other sites..

Generally the unheard names and regular courier companies take the couriers without any forms but fedex, bluedart etc would follow the regulatory guidelines even in cases where it is not applicable!
