Electricity bills adds more heat this summer

Re: Fuel demand goes along with price

Today was hell of a day with lot of fuel stations closed and a few functioning with police protection.

Power, fuel, tax, inflation....do not know what is more in store

3 hitachi 5 star splits from 8pm-8am so 12 hours (got them really cheap as stock clearance from reliance)

All our lights are led lights bought at wholesale rate, mostly 1-3watts.

In Gurgaon worst part is not getting proper 220-230. Nowday till midnight it is 160-170 vold and ACs are not running and have to switch to power back up which is costing more than Rs. 15/unit.

Pl suggests from where you got LED lights at wholesale rates.

:mad:hmm.. you guys have power!! woah!!.. here in AP.. the APSEB doesnt upgrade the transfromers which inturn blow up (according to them) on high loads during summer so.. they are cutting power for crazy hours in day time like 11-3 or 2-5:mad:

power cut in hyd ??? haven't faced a single power cut since a month in nizampet area though the last bill was a bomb compared to last year.

yeah few random cuts happens but for short interval like 15-20 mins.

Recd my bill today ... billing cycle ... 15/4/12 to 17/5/12 ... Rs.3080 ... a tad high. I am vying for a bill @ Rs.2000 to Rs.2500 max. for the place. Have to come down hard on my family to switch off anything (including lights) ... when, not required. Trouble is .... they don't listen  to mild tones, have to raise voice off and on!

House fitted with CFLs ... not yet on LEDs. 2 nos. x 1 TR splits operational from 10.00 PM to 3.00 AM (in one) and 5 AM (in the other) room. Other appliances include a 400 L refrigerator, one MWO, a 29" TV, water pumps, music systems (which is/are used extensively).... other than the usual CFLs and fans.

Though officially there are no longer any regular one hour or two hour power cuts in Hyderabad unofficially there are power cuts ranging from one to two hours based on the APSEB substation workers mood I guess.

Do consider the cost of capitol on that: if your existing machines work, and are taking no more than nominal maintenance/repair expenditure, you could be better off keeping them until you have to replace them.

Of course, if you've done those sums, and it works out for you, then ...happy buying!

Me and my Samsungs: they cost about 2,000 or so each in annual repairs and gas charges. Next time, I'll go for a premium brand like General or Daikin --- but it takes a lot of 2,000s to pay for one Daikin inverter, and somehow, I don't think the current consumption difference would tip the balance either.

Lols... yeah.. :D when you are in Kondapur/Madhapur or many areas within the heart of the city you would realize that too much of population density is also bad !!! electricity supply wise!!!:indifferent14:.. When I posted my previous post there were power cuts for 5 -6 hrs in day time through out the week now its come down to 2 hrs..!!

I'm not sure about the population density thing. But one thing I can vouch for is power cut duration is always lesser in the heart of the city than in the outskirts in general from my experience. And I would say places like Kondapur/Miyapur don't qualify as city yet.
I don't see any power cuts happening in the heart of the city right now. But at our place we are having 2 hour power cut daily.

hehhehe... hmmmm so according to you what qualifies as being a part of a City ??.. a lill thing called URBAN LAND CEILING TAX, LAND REGULATION SERVICE Charges, Building regulation charges.. which are not levied on rural or some even to semi rural areas and we have payed all of those !!!! or better yet a practical example of the fact that the population density is high that in our own locality the borewells have gone dry twice and we ourselves have gotten borewell drilled thrice from 200 ft to 700 ft to 1600 ft and still @ loss of ground water or that every morning and evening the trafic on the highway is jammed just around the office login/logout timings ...

hmm I wonder what do you mean we dont have powercuts in the city.... In Tolichowki there was no powr @ my friendsplace last Saturday from 2pm till 6 pm... I wonder...!!!:indifferent14::indifferent14: I know for a fact that power cuts are more prominent only in areas where the power consumption is high Load shedding they said :(.

Bros,

i really admire the desi cooler i used to use in delhi .

it gets humid (no electronics to control the pump) and noisy but if some REAL engineer can mod it to be silent . it will cut ur AC bills .. if used together ...
this guy used to consume almost like a FAN and el-chepo cooling

^^Don't try a water cooler together with an AC! Never!

Either run the cooler, depending on the climate (during hot, dry season) or use the AC during hot, humid periods. Yes, you can fit both together in the room, but, run just one ..

Bro, I have been born and brought up in Hyderabad and I have lived both in heart of the city as well as at the outskirts. With respect to density I don't want to comment. Also check in the regular papers there is almost an article wherein it mentions that the powercuts will be more for longer duration in outskirts than in the city. I have not lived in Madhapur so can't comment.
By heart of city I mean areas starting from Mehdipatnam onwards. I agree that even in these areas there is a possibility of untimed power cuts but the frequency and the duration is lesser. The local public here will rip the electricity people's a** if the power cut is for very longer time. Whereas in the outskirts they don't care atleast not as much as the interiors.

Aww cmon!!! you should know City limits have gone till Manikonda. Madhapur is considered one of the important locations and yeah about the newspapers information about 2 weaks ago..it was given that there will be power cuts to follow load shedding policy and its not like I take pride in complaining about the power cuts in my area ie Kondapur when I can practically walk to the Cyber Towers from here and there are many huge & also called up whenever there were powercuts and got a response about the load shedding or transformers issues.. There have been may people from my work who come from Asifnagar, Mehedipatnam even, who have expressed all the grievances about the power cut schedules.

It could also be that since our area is in the vicinity of the IT sector the load shedding did directly affect us. Whatever it is .. I wish people in the outskirts realize that this time they ve got it good ;)

oh i spent 2 years in madhapur... horror stories for water and power.. dont wanna remember..

yup yup .. and now the horror has spread to kondapur even!!! dangit!!! After 2006 the population increase in my locality is about 500% when I moved here I was able to see the Highway from top of the place I sued to stay.. now not at all...!!! The APSEB guys have stuck to supplying the same lame transformers so every 6 months there s a line issue or a transformer or feeder breakdown etc n now.. water problem...coupled with the strike by the tanker suppliers #$@%@%#$#:annoyed:

Guess what Fellow hyderabadi's or AP residents.. Govt/APSEB declared 7 Hour POWER CUTS!!!!!! to balance the power usage requirement for the summer!!!! read in the news paper... I already had 2 hrs powercut from 5:45 to 7:45 :(.. think they started already ???? Hope they find another option!!!!

why not? I see lot of neighbors doing this. Even I am considering using air cooler as I have witnessed their houses to be very cool.
My living room is large 20x30x10 and also has staircase - so a single 1.5T split AC is not able to do anything in hot dry season.

Any suggestion for a larger split AC that can handle this big a room? I am considering a second split vs a single large one.
