Am really loving Banshee :) never seen such a genre in TV Series before :) thanks guys for recommending.

mmmm ok Banshee seems interesting as well, getting the first season for this one as well ...... thanks for recommending ...

Started Banshee today.

Never expected to like it this much (may be my expectations were pretty low). At this rate, I might finish it even before the weekend :D

^^ Oh man now you have made me pretty interested, and raised my expectations as well ...... :D anyway I will complete Homeland before I start Banshee ....... Still trying to sink in the enormous 5 grueling season of Breaking Bad ..:D :D

I watched the first episode of The Assets yesterday.
Don't know what is wrong with the current generation (why they rated this poorly in IMDB).

It was really interesting! My wife and I quite got hooked. In fact, we were wishing it was a movie not a TV series for which we will have to wait for the other episodes to air.

It is an old school spy based drama based in Moscow during the height of the Cold War. Has all the typical "insider treason", intrigue, suspense, views of Lubyanka prison, CIA/KGB, evading a "tail" etc. Good script, good acting - really a promising series. Reminded me a bit of Argo, John Le Carre, etc.

Don't worry at all about the ratings of new shows on IMDB. At least not just after very first episode!! It's a cliche to rate a TV show in very few initial episodes. Wait for few more episodes to come, then more viewers will come up and ratings may change over the time.
I had read somewhere, that even 'Breaking Bad' wasn't rated very high in its first season as very few people were watching it, but now it holds 9.5...

Just keep on posting your views and reviews on TV shows, as few members like me desperately wait on this thread to read something :)

Hahaha... Seems like "BANSHEE" is making everybody excited ;-) That's what it is meant to be... Not for kids and light hearted people at all.
Well, during last 3 days...I had to watch Banshee season 1 again... 3rd time... as one friend browsed my HDD and started watching it ... Due to democracy in the house..I just couldn't stop him
Now waiting for 2nd season which is starting on 10th January...

I stayed up late (against the warning at the back of my mind to sleep) and finished 5 episodes of Banshee. I am very likely to finish it over the next two nights.

In this modern era of story telling where 'thinking is the new sexy', Banshee is a bit retro. Some episode plot outlines feel like they could have been taken straight out of a 1980's Seagal or Van Damme film. But the treatment is modern and different.

The town slightly reminds me of Justified, where every character has a history, back story and relationships that slowly come to light as episodes roll on. The action, instead of being cool and stylish, is very raw and violent. It caught my attention the moment our protagonist knifed in a bar fight in the first episode (reminded me of a Korean film whose name escapes me, 'Yellow submarine'?). It even made me root for the protagonist to kick the living daylights out of the third episode's villain (That hasn't happened with me in years). There is also lot of skin on the show, considering that our sheriff has slept with every woman introduced (barring a couple) and that's in half a season. Banshee sure is an interesting cocktail of things that help it stand out a little from other series on television.

Banshee is back.

Saw the first episode of season 2... first 20 mins or so are spent in wrapping up the loose ends from season 1 and then on its back to stealing, shooting, and sex (3 guesses for who the Sheriff hooks up with).

Improbable yes... but lots of fun nevertheless. Now the tough part is waiting for the next week's episode.

Damn. I'm missing out on a lot of hbo and Cinemax shows. Gotta find some friend in US who's willing to share their HboGo and Maxgo streams. GoT is about to start soon too!

I actually went on to watch the next 5 episodes of Banshee the next night. Have caught up with Season 2 premier as well.

I think Justified and Banshee are better for binge-watching (at least 3-4 episodes at a time). Will wait for some episodes to pile up. Have time till then to finish may be "Rome" and that long, long pending 'Dekalog'. Then there's Walking Dead's second half, House of Cards S2, Game of Thrones S4. Interesting times ahead!

Anybody here who has watched Poirot? I accidentally caught it on Zee Cafe the other night. With 70 episodes spanning 25 years (thankfully not as many as Doctor Who), is it worth watching all the episodes?

Each Poirot episode is like a movie by itself the way it has been filmed and if you watch carefully you will see that a lot has been spent on sets. But the stories are a bit slow and it takes a little patience to watch. Nevertheless a childhood favourite oif mine when it was used to be aired on Doordarshan in 90s.

Finished watching "The Good Wife" till its latest episode i.e. S05E12.

WOW... What can I say about this show.
I have lived almost my entire free time through this show in last 2.5 months and it was definitely one of the best entertaining time I ever had on Television. :)
And this show comes in my personal favourite list right after my all time favorite 'Breaking Bad'...
As I mentioned earlier how addictive this legal+political drama has been for me... The cases, plot twists, the pop-culture references were entertaining as well as sometime knowledge-worthy too... There was one hell of the season 4 finale and S05E05 were the kind of episode, one could have never presumed of..if one has followed the show since day-1.
I just don't wanna put spoilers here, or else I could have discussed the development of each character in details... Top class actors and there is a bunch of ensemble cast in this show, out of which few like 'Michael J. Fox' as 'Louis Canning' and 'Carrie Preston' as 'Elizabeth Tascioni' etc. are great fun to watch!!

This show keep on getting better and better and better and.... And 5th season has really gone beyond my expectations so far; and I just wish writers of this show keep on doing the great work.
Now that a major turn out has happened in season-5, I've got a fear that it could be difficult for writers to manage the situations and cases and the story arc.
Hope the show keep on doing great in future too!!
Now my dilemma is ... I'll have to watch this show on weekly basis..

Looking forward to watch HBO's True Detective starting from this Sunday 12th Jan.

HBO has created a strong dramatic outing with "True Detective" that will reassert the network as being the backer of some of the best television around. "True Detective" (a television anthology drama series on HBO) is a gorgeous, stylized and dark exploration into the worst parts of the human psyche.
