Fans of Television Series

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will be an interesting pair to watch. Looks promising.

Though serial killers are an increasingly popular subject in the current television landscape, ''True Detective'' still feels fresh. That is largely because of the skill in which Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson handle their roles of Rustin Cohle and Martin Hart, respectively.

For those unaware, HBO's ''True Detective'' follows investigators Rustin Cohle and Martin Hart, whose lives intertwine during a 17-year hunt for a Louisiana serial killer. Their investigation of a gruesome 1995 murder cuts through testimony from the detectives in 2012, after the case re-opens. The eight-episode series also stars Shea Whigham ( ''Boardwalk Empire'' ), Kevin Dunn ( ''Veep'' ), Michelle Monaghan ( ''Open'' ), Alexandra Daddario ( ''Percy Jackson'' ) and Elizabeth Reaser ( ''Twilight'' ).

Will start Banshee season 2 today, what a season 1. episode 9 and 10 were the best of the season with turning points of Proctor coming to rescue along with the cops joining the mobs for releasing Hood.

So GOT Season 4 date hase been declared ... Just wondering will HBO Defined telecast it adjacent to US telecast ? SWP atleast do that regularly for some premium shows like Agents of Shield , The Blacklist etc ...

Not waiting for HBO to begin with, in any case it will be heavily edited as is the norm with Indian television. I refuse to watch GOT from a supposed moral high ground. This is a show of highest production values and 'obscenities' here are much needed to aid the storyline.

Anybody here who has watched Poirot? I accidentally caught it on Zee Cafe the other night. With 70 episodes spanning 25 years (thankfully not as many as Doctor Who), is it worth watching all the episodes?

Bro ! Agatha Christie's Poirot is a British television crime drama that aired on ITV from 8 January 1989 to 13 November 2013. David Suchet stars as the eponymous detective, Agatha Christie's fictional Hercule Poirot.
Agatha Christie's Poirot is "one of TV's greatest achievements".
You can watch this interesting series now on Zee Cafe.

Bro ! the final episode (Curtain : Poirot's Last Case - 13 November 2013) of Agatha Christie's Poirot, starring David Suchet as the moustachioed detective, bowed out with an average of 5.2 million viewers.

Blacklist started again after a hiatus of several months (I think it is the next season). Continues to be eminently watchable. Total masala - like watching a Bourne movie. The action has become more intense. James Spader is a class on his own.

Yes, highly addictive... though its the same season (1) and a continuation after a 3 week break.

Megan Boone though continues to be sorely lacking in any acting skills and the series would be much better if James Spader had a better actress (in terms of acting caliber) to spar with. Sadly, Megan continues to sport the same dumb facial expression no matter what the scene/situation... James Spader on the other hand even acts with his voice/voice modulation.

Thanks for the correction. It seemed like several months! Didn't realize it was only 3 weeks :o

Yes, Megan is a let down indeed.

I have started watching Person Of Interest.

Some of the action scenes are a bit glib - not as well made as they could have been. But for some reason, the story line and the premise has got me hooked. Mainly The Machine. This is probably already happening or will definitely happen in the next few years. And for some reason, I have started liking some of the main characters. Michael Emerson, the "brains" behind all of it, has a understated and sombre performance but I've started liking it.

So...who are the Justified fans here?

Its season 5 is started...but I started watching long pending Season 4 of Justified and as usual it's doing great.
(I thought of watching S-4 on Bluray as I did for it first 3 seasons, but I got a news that Justified is ending next year after season 6; so I decide to watch the show popular way as of now and better buy the last three seasons 4-5-6 on Bluray together next year to complete the collection. Planned same with 'Mad Men' as I have decided to watch its last 2 seasons (6 & 7) on Bluray only.. after watching first 5 seasons continuously last year. )

Justified is definitely a smart show in terms of its dialogues and variety of humorous actors. The rural-southern-western kinda setup makes it look more interesting, because there is always an old-fashioned tried&tested gun-shots and fights, yet the story keeps on moving without being predictive.
Watch out for the verbal fight between the protagonists 'Raylan Givens' and 'Boyd Crowder'... I like it the most when villain wins in this show :)

And one can't beat the dialogues here... Sometime it takes me 1 hour to complete a 45 minute episode, because I wanna listen few dialogues again and again...

Just see few examples...
"I'll kill four of you before you even clear your weapons, and I'll take my chances with the other two. And you see this star? That's gonna make it legal."

"If you run into an asshole in the morning well, OK, you ran into an asshole. But if you run into assholes all day, then YOU'RE the asshole."

"What the hell...Are you going to pull the trigger or talk me to death."

"I figured people have a right to their hobbies and I have a right to find those people creepy."

Saw the first episode of True Detective, and was blown away how dark it is. Loved the way its made; low key, high impact and truly adult. I'm hooked!

+1, i accidentally started episode 1,thought it was boring, saw the second and got hooked to the storyline...

Some episodes are dumb, but most are good, and i like the blank face expression acting of Jimmy cavaziel (or however its spelt!)

Started watching Boston legal and Banshee based on the recommendations here.

Boston legal- into season 2 - Expected more clever courtroom arguments but some of them are downright silly, but like the show for the main characters, esp Shatner. The humour element is very enjoyable and the absence of needless skin show is also a refreshing change, esp after watching game of thrones.

Banshee: Halfway through- very entertaining, good time pass, but needless skin show. I wonder why many good shows are filled with such scenes when we watch the shows for the storyline, characterisation, etc.

Add me in... Well, after reading a few reviews here and elsewhere I'm totally "Justified" to take a leap and spend my precious hours watching this television drama.
Shall start very soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

Current on going dramas - The Good Wife (S05E12 over, now have to wait till 9th of March), Banshee (S01), The Blacklist (S01), Arrow (S01)

Recently finished - Sherlock, Homeland, Scandal

Yes, the arguments, the cases and even the show in general is totally silly. But considering its a spoof, that's expected. Both shatner and Spader are brilliant though and even the worst episodes are better than some of the crap you'll find on tv today.
