Fans of Television Series

^^ Nice insight as always ....:)... Banshee is next on my list :)... I am also very much interested in Almost Human ...... did anyone give it a chance ....

Well... 'Almost Human' is on my list too, but not yet started; as only 8 episodes so far and I don't wanna fall myself into that weekly anticipation for one more show after 'Banshee' and 'The Good Wife' :)

But as a Binge activity, I tried a Psycho-Thriller drama called Bates Motel last weekend.
As its description says, it's a Modern adoption of the movie 'Psycho'.

This is a story about a lady coming to a new town with his 17 year old son. Tries to start a Motel business, but some unfortunate incident occur on day one, followed by some more thrills and mysteries ahead.
Pilot episode was pretty good and made me sit through the coming episodes.

It's a new genre for me in TV shows. Actors are pretty good including few interesting teenage actors.
Beautifully shot in a mountainous town and I liked the background score too.
Only 10 episodes in first season. So it was short and sweet weekend entertainment for me.
Ending of season 1 was quite good and I'm definitely looking forward to the second season starting in March.

It was exactly where it should have gone. I was actually praying that sense prevails and they do not use some miracle intervention to let Brody escape. That would have made me furious. That is why I mentioned earlier that I got the closure I wanted from the series.

Just like Ned Stark made you get off GoT (in contrast, not having read the books, that is the point I started investing more in GoT), I am using Brody as an excuse to get away from Homeland. HL has slight similarities with '24' - another series which drummed up American patriotism by portraying anyone with middle eastern accent as a terrorist. Thankfully, HL has a few 'good' people who help the American cause to balance it out. I am getting a little Jack Bauer-ish about such plots (or should I say Arnab-ish ;)).

While I am glad that one does not have to burden themselves with more of Dana from this point on, I already have plenty of troubles in life to think about. Watching Carrie Mathison's neurotics is an additional burden I can do without.

IMO, Boyd Crowders' Hair >>>>> Carrie Mathison's cries (I may have intentionally left out some greater than symbols for want of space)

Ned Stark's death if made anyone get away from GoT then they have no idea what was in store for them in season 3 ! :ohyeah:
At the same time GoT has a huge lot to offer apart from Ned Stark, the sheer number of characters and their multiplicity is enough to keep the show going and go rather well. Whereas with Homeland, with Brodie gone it absolutely loses its very roots. I am not sure if there will be any miraculous resurrection of Brodie (there should not be, Homeland till now at all times has remained plausible and definitively stayed away from any sort of 'gimmick'), and without Brodie I am not that keen to watch it. I mean when the 4th season airs I will watch it, but I just will not be waiting for the season premier date as I was waiting for this one.

Yep! Banshee is one show I could not resist. I wanted to wait till the second season was over. But, like you, I yielded to temptation :o.

I agree! GoT has plenty of interesting characters and parallel story lines to keep me interested. My interest is tilted slightly in favor of Tyrion Lannister though :). I wonder what carnage GoT will bring in the 9th episode this year!

The Wire is another show where many characters have equal importance (as in real life). That is another aspect of the show I missed mentioning in the last post.

SPOILERS - Homeland

Just a thought.
So all you guys are pretty sure that Brody is not coming back? That it was the real Brody who was in the last scene and not some scheme by Javadi involving face mask or some doppelganger. I would be thrilled if in one of the episodes of S4 they bring back Brody to life as part of some operation involving Saul and Carrie in the Middle East. If Brody's gone, that means Dana is gone too and the amount of time they've spent on Dana in S3 and Brody's resolve to redeem himself in Dana's eyes, amounts to nothing.

^^ If that does amount to be what you say, personally HOMELAND will loose all credibility in my eyes and it would become a just another typical hollywood or infact bollywood soap opera where characters come back after dying via plastic surgery..lol

Hahahha... I thought the same
I don't think American show writers are that stupid!!

If they bring Brody back except in dream / flashback sequences, it will alienate the rest of the faithfuls. So, hopefully they won't.

Just imagine one of the episode being directed by a hardcore Bollywood influenced director. In the first episode of S4, Carrie would go in a church and talk to Jesus - 'Khush to bahut honge tum aaj !!'

Spot on, I have thought precisely on the same lines. Owing to the Hoodiny act recently seen on Sherlock it is not a very far fetched proposition. Javadi certainly has his interests to hang Brody, but at the same time given the complexities of Saul's character and his vision displayed throughout season 3, it actually is probable that he foresaw such a situation involving Brody. Also the character of Dara Dahl was portrayed as a much vaunted and even secretive personality in the previous season(s), but in season 4 he is seen playing permanent second fiddle to Saul, and even Carie and Quinn. This does not quite fit right, I am led to believe that there must be more to it. If we assume these characters were real then Saul must have seen the duplicity in Dara in context of the final situation evolving around Brody in Tehran, and so I submit that there is a very real possibility that appropriate arrangements could have been made between Saul and Javadi.
Sorry to sound like such a conspiracy theorist, but the show is all about conspiracy, so I am forgiven!

:ohyeah::clapping::ohyeah::clapping:

At the same time I must submit that Brody's death was kept very real and was displayed almost in vivid detail. Given the sincerity of the show it will be very off track for a character to come back that way. Logical fans are likely to be disappointed if that ever happens.

SPOILERS

I think Homeland and Breaking Bad succeeded where Dexter failed miserably. I think Brody's death is real way forward for the show , made it little believable. How they are going to take the next season forward without

Brody is going to be a real challenge. Overall for me the last season has been mixed, the first few episodes are really awful. I am not sure if we have any Dana fans here, but I absolutely hate her mannerisms and acting , again its just me and few more folks in the internet :-) I almost stopped watching when HL became a teen drama...but somehow the show was able to redeem itself in the last few episodes....

Breaking Bad is by far the best shows I ever watched. Great story and wonderful acting. This will be the template for other TV shows in years to come....even though I wanted to see Walter White live but I felt real closure at end of the shows and was happy to see Jesse get away...

Dexter final season was huge disappointment, Dexter comes back from death and working as lumberjack is absolutely ridiculous. The way they killed Debra morgan was another huge mistake, she is fine in one scene and the next she is killed. And Dexter letting his son live with a serial killer, I don't what the show writers were thinking...

Another good series I was watched was American Horror Story, again excellent acting all around, this show is totally creepy and twisted so its not for everyone but the season two was excellent, season 3 is on my list right now...

Yeah even I stopped watching agent of shield got boring after few episodes.

Just started watching True Detective in HBO defined, two fine actors Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson. The first episode was really good, hope the rest of the show will be good.

Finished Sherlock Season 3 , they managed to humanize Sherlock. Overall it was good but not as good as season 2. Season 3 ending promised a better rival for Sherlock, don't want give out any spolier :-)

I have been watching Rome this weekend. So far, have finished 5 episodes and I intend to finish it off before end of February. Quite interesting!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
