I am addicted to Banshee. I sometimes wake up with the theme playing in my head. I only hate the horrible seven day wait between my fixes
Rome, whatever be the historical inaccuracies / deviations, is a fantastic series. I am half way into the second season. The second season, may be because it was originally planned for five seasons but BBC could not afford to spend, feels a bit rushed with so much story crammed into each episode. But, the characters are very interesting. The way they switch allegiances based on the current power structure is not much different from what happens today in politics. I think Atia of the Julii would have been an effective politician even today
.
Despite the crappy writing that plagued much of the Season 7 of X-files, I am determined to see it through. That season, due to it's parody style in the latter half, made even Dexter's descent look much better. Gillian Anderson's "All things" will forever be etched in my memory as the worst TV episode I ever had to sit through. Duchovny's 'Hollywood A.D' was funny though. In the eighth season, many long time fans deserted the show along with Fox Mulder. But, after the initial two episodes, I don't think it's that terrible, though it doesn't quite match up to the earlier season's standards.
The inconsistency in the plot and characters is jaw dropping. As Adrian Monk would say "It's both a gift and a curse". You do not have to remember anything to watch an episode of X-files at any point of time since most are stand-alone episodes. On the other, Scully, a skeptic, goes through a few life changing experiences which should have altered her perceptions - at least make her open to the possibilities. But in the very next episode, she becomes inexplicably reset to being a skeptic. After seven seasons of skepticism, she suddenly switches to playing 'Spooky Scully', while Robert Patrick takes over the part of 'Scully' in Season 8. Yikes! But hey! It did gave us Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston was chosen to play Walter White because they worked together in a sixth season episode. So, it's all good in the end!
