Full brightness reduce life?

Not really. Just make sure the box is completely and properly sealed with original Sony hologram. :)

Also check usage hours after unboxing it.

But frankly, there is nothing to worry. Sony Centers never do such things as they will be in big trouble if they do such a thing and Sony India management comes to know about it.

If buying from multi brand stores, then yes there is a low chance of such things happening.

I am sorry but I do not subscribe to that assumption. Basically dealers are the same breed and they will resort to tricks if possible. While I am not saying that they will do or not do such things, it its in our interest to verify the facts.

They are still franchises. They are owned by individuals and run as per Sony's guidelines.

But isn't it true that usage hours could have been reset by the dealer , is it possible?

The first time I got conned was by Sony Center at Chennai. It was a mini-hifi system that I had purchased. On opening I found faint scratch lines on the display. These lines typically happen when you wipe using some cloth. The DVD drive conked off soon (within the warranty period). In India anything can happen. Hence once should take all precautions to ensure that it is not a display unit.

Will registering my tv with SONY INDIA (register your product section) help in proving my tv's genuinity (avoiding demo piece)?
It takes into account the serial number of tv, dealer's name everything?

Nope. Nothing of that kind. It will only prove that your tv was imported/assembled in India by Sony and sold in India, i.e., the tv was not from grey market or purchased abroad and brought into India later.
