Good news for vinyl Lovers

Thanks prem. Planning to order "The Manganiyar Seduction". Does anybody have it? It's Rajasthani folk and sufi. I simply love that kind of music. There is usually some rawness in the expression as is usual in all folk. However, there is soul and it's quite interesting to see the roots of our classical music. Any inputs on this particular album would be very helpful, because it's quite expensive. The recording is supposedly superb (mastered and pressed at the RTI facilities California).

Regards

Of the above, I cancelled the order of sufiaana, but now on your experience I may consider it again. I have the Marasim, it is quite good, especially side 2 for better musicallity. The Guru one I am hoping to receive today. I heard Maachis yesterday, very lively sort of recording, again no issues there either.
Regards.

Collected following LPs from Flipkart
- Bhajan Sagar by Pt Jasraj
- 1942 a Love Story
- Maachis
- Rudali
- Marasim
- Jodha Akbar
- Hare Krishna by Jagjit Singh (I am hooked to the song 'Hey Gobind Hey Gopal' listened earlier from Casette).

Also, received 13 LPs of Hindi movies and old Hindi songs from one HFV member at Mumbai.

But alas, just seeing the cover arts as I am yet to buy a TT.

Can comment on Marasim, the pressing is AMAZING.
On the whole , it seems Sony has been top notch in it's lp pressing for the one's released in India.

Asit,
It is quite natural that you love folk songs. Specially Rajasthani Folk. Long back about 25 years ago, We travelled many places of Rajasthan in 32 days long tour. Just at the entrance of Mehrangarh Fort at Jodhpur we came accross a local singer with his daughter singing Rajasthani folk. I still remember that I spend not less than 20 minutes listening to them when the other entered the fort. I was so satisfied and enjoyed that simple music with beautiful Meharangarh fort as background. It was a memorable moment in my life. I gave them Rs.50 (which at that time used to be good money). Folk songs are indeed roots of Indian classical treasure. These are unbelievably fresh, pure and laced with fragrance of mother earth. I have a long cherised desire to listen 'Bhatiali' on a trip on boat in river. These folk songs are so rich and touches heart that in Film music they have been used in abundance. S.D.Burman was master in this. Sorry, I have gone off track from the thread.

Hi Asit

I have also been planning to get Manganiyar Seduction. It should be very good. Will order it next week.

Interesting Video on the link Asit provided ^^. In the video, the Manganiyars(a group of several artists) sit in chambers which light up when that particular artist(s) performs - liked it. Reminds me of a spectrum analyser that my good old Pioneer car head unit (KEH-8450) has. Check it out.

Thanks to this discussion, I just ordered Manganiyar Seduction LP. Hopefully it will get here soon! Being pressed at RTI, I know the quality would be good, but I still don't know who mastered it.

Great! I have also just ordered it (from Flipkart). Hoping for the best, because as I said it costs quite a bit. According to the first line of this link (Records India - FIRST Indian Online Store for Bollywood and English Records - THE MANGANIYAR SEDUCTION (2 LP) (Powered by CubeCart)) the mastering is also done at the RTI.

Regards.

Hi, a few months back when manganiar seduction was released by amrass records it was featured in a newspaper. According to the article the set for this show is so big that it can only be erected in lalkilla in delhi in india. Thats the only place in india where they have performances. The group has performed in several international music festivals with rare reviews. After there anual tour the artists return back to there oblivion life as funeral singers back home.regards

I think, you should go for it at Rs.1996/-. Even pre-owned Pink Floyd records cost over 1k. I have DSOM and The Wall in good condition. DSOM on Vinyl is something else:).

I think there is some confusion. These three are vinyls limited editions at Rs 1996/- each.
