Got home the Panasonic 42V20 :-)

Hi to all.. please bear my limited knowledge..

I went to local electronics store at Malviya Nagar, Delhi to look for LCD/plasma TV today..
The shopkeeper recommended to me a particular LCD Panasonic TV, on enquiry he told me the price to be 42K with 3 years warranty .. I asked him to write a model no and price in a piece of paper for me..
The model number he has written down is 42V20D. I have checked the Panasonic India web-site and I guess that he might be referring to TH-P42V20D itself..
I am also little confuse because he has written down the above model to be LCD tv.. further he has quoted 34.5K for 42" plasma tv (I did not ask for model noumber).. he mentioned that both the model were full HD..

My question to the experts here is how come the price suddenly fall from 61K to 42K? Am I missing something here..
I have saved small amount since last 3 years to buy 42 Plasma/LCD TV
I was with the impression that LCD is better than Plasma and LED is better than LCD.. I guess I am wrong..

I would be immensely thankful if somebody can point me towards right resources to help me to choose..

Thanks to all in advance..

i think the model he's referring to U series , though it is mentioned full hd its only applicable for still pics , not moving pic resolution, hence the lower price, also i have checked u series and pic quality is inferior to v series

Please clarify whether the plasma TV will have 100Hz motionflow feature.

Because, I do not find this specification in the plasma TV.

If I buy a plasma TV, Will I have the 100Hz feature or not?

Thanks for the clarification

I believe the V20 has something similar to 100Hz but in reality, a plasma doesn't need motion interpolation as it doesn't have a slow response time like lcds.

Hello dear forum members, :)
I want to buy the Pana 42V20 as many others on this thread did
but i am unable to locate a good deal for the same in Mumbai.

Panasonic Brand shop,Mumbai have 50v20 but say 40'' has been discontinued

Saw one at Croma for Rs.71k ! , seems steep compared to what the people on the forum got it for.

Please help :(

got a good deal Finally after so many phone calls, showroom visits and hours together on the internet ! :D
a dealer in Mumbai is offering the Pana 42v20 for Rs. 59k :yahoo:

Hi,

I need some advice from folks who have owned this for some time now... all sites who talk about "burn in" advice in affect to "Do not leave a static image on the plasma screen for more than 15 minutes during the first month of use."

How Long do HDTV Plasma TV and LCD/LED TVs last? What's the Life Span?

Is this feasible? Don't operators like tata sky and airtel have permanent static image in form of their logo? Is this going to affect the performance of the TV over time?

Need clarification for power consumption...
Panasonic Viera TX-P42V20
"average consumption of 309 W for the 42'' TV, which is two to three times more than an equivalent-sized LCD."........ In the review...

Is it okay????

kk

My understanding is this

(a) This power consumption is for maximum - fully white screen at the maximum brightness. Practical usage is much less;

(b) caliberated power consumption is lower around half of the rated power

The initial cost saving more than offsets the additional power cost.

In technology advanced items like this, always go for cheaper initial cost option.

Err.. you want to carry this to Tennessee :D How far is Lynchburg from Collierville :p

On a serious note talk to one of the brand shops, they could arrange one albeit against some sort of firm commitment (partial advance) from your end. In NCR several dealers have suggested the above to me to enable them to lift stock from the company warehouse. The situation in Bangalore should be similar.

How is the sound quality of the audio out of the V20?

Say, I send 2.0 stream through the HDMI and connect the TV out RCA to the 2ch amp, how does it sound? Does anyone have such a setup?

200 miles! Jack Daniels.. ha? :)

I had asked the best dealer in bangalore, to arrange one for me. Today he called back, saying he tried his best and could not find one anywhere in bangalore. He is trying to convince me on other models.

Yes, the Rye has it's own pull :licklips:

I have been able to locate the 42V20 here in Delhi at one of the brand shops. He has two units with him one is a display piece @56K and the other is a fresh sealed one @60K. With the 50V20 available @73.5K this has turned into a confusing scenario  Adding to the madness is the easy availability of the 42VT30 in UAE & Singapore.
