Got home the Panasonic 42V20 :-)

Received my 42V20 on 3rd Sep and got Tata Sky HD installed on the very next day. Must say, I am very much impressed with the HD picture quality.
I am playing HD content through my WD TV Live media player, it works like a charm. Happy with the SD quality also. :yahoo:
I have downloaded the break-in DVD and would like to get past the break-in period asap.

panasonic brand shop guys says that for V20 you don't need break in slides, or you dont need such kind of special care like you do with other plasmas in initial period.

I second that. The thirteenth generation neo pdp technology is actually resistant to image retention and does not exhibit any sort of retention at sane contrast levels
I doubt it needs any sort of burn in

^^sorry for being offtopic, but i don't think break-in has ANY relation to image retention or prevention of, in that matter. Its just all about even aging of pixels which settle at a faster pace during the early lifetime and slowly afterwards of 300 hours or so.The argument in favor is that normal TV contents are usually more oriented towards the center of the screen which sees maximum action where the corners are less worked out. Some pros do claim that they have seen varying output intensity at varying portions of the screen with a display thats not properly broken-in,but its all probably snake-oil.....or not.Its this confusion that makes people download and use break-in slides.Afterall, doing some break-in doesn't hurt whereas not doing so might.
Personally, i do break-in as the uniform aging of panel seems a valid point to me but i can easily understand someone who thinks the exact opposite way.So, each to his own. :)

Thanks Imrahn.
Frank/Chirag, I have chosen to use the break-in DVD mostly for the same reason (for uniform ageing of the phosphor). After all this is only for few days (may be weeks) and it will not harm the TV but may improve the performance on the other hand.

I installed my Panny 42V20 few days back alongwith Onkyo + Pure Acoustics HT system...Must say an awsome experience altogether. Watched RobinHood last night and just could not believe the movie experience. Have also taken Tata Sky HD and few HD channels look amazing...the colors, contrast, clarity and crispness of picture is truly unbelievable...

Really happy with the purchase and extremely satisfied...

Thanks Imrahn.

So no special care required ? Please confirm this, i am almost fixed on SAMSUNG LA40C630 @ 65K. I might change it and go for a panasonic plasma. Is warranty on panasonic plasmas 3yrs ?

My First Post

Did Anybody bought this in Delhi. How much it cost you?

I am looking forward to buy this one in the coming week, looking at all the posts it seems to be a prudent choice. I am making a shift from a 21" CRT to this Biggi..ANy suggestions? and My room is 13*12.

Also, can a Connect my 500Gb HDD to this Beauty straightaway?

Even if no special care is required it is always best to take precautions during the run-in period. It is clearly stated in the manual that the company shall not be liable in the event of burn-in. If your main usage is going to be viewing HD movies then the V20 anyday. But I think you must have also read the posts by current owners about its less than stellar SD picture quality. And if you are in the habit of watching movies in semi- to complete darkness then the V20 wins hands down. By the way even the seemingly teeny weeny 2 inches does translate into a big difference in real life.

About Panasonic's 3 year warranty, this is what I was given to understand from a previous post on the same. The dealer initially gives you the standard 1 year warranty. He then reports the sale to Panasonic who send you a form for the additional 2 years warranty. But at the time of buying be sure to specifically inquire about the 3 year warranty before handing over the money. We all know what happens in India after money changes hands.
Samsung ASS does not seem to be very great. Check previous threads.

Guys, I happened to visit the CNET Asia Website. There i saw 42V20S ... the Singapore equivalent (of the model under discussion here) bagging a whopping score of 8.7 / 10. It beat a recently reviewed Sony Bravia by .1 points. Reviewers say it is the BEST model reviewed this year !

I saw this model @ Croma. It gives a natural image compared to the gimmicky LCDs from SONY and Samsung. IF i were to buy a HDTV in near future, it would be ONLY this model !! :)

hi - did you face any bugs, flickering issues?
I am facing flickering issue with my panasonic projector, even when I never ran it on economy mode.

I see this forum has remained dormant since Oct 2010... I am planning to buy P42V20D and I got lot of inputs from this forum... especially this thread... Thanks Nanu and all the users for sharing awesome info... Now I am almost decided to buy this set and going for a demo at the Panasonic Brandshop in Lohar Chawl, Mumbai...

Can all the existing users of this plasma set share their experiences... It would be greatly helpful... Thanks in advance...

Rgds,
Vinod
