Got Oppo BDP-95 today

There is a region hardware mod kit for 60$. Can be used to make it region free

If anyone is intending to make the Oppo BDP 83 region free through the hardware kit, make sure it update to the Mar 17th version of the firmware if nto already done as they have fixed couple video sizing and audio drop out issues.

@Hassan,

Have you posted rDAC vs oppo 95 for analog stereo anywhere before? Can you post the link here?

I haven't posted any comparison. I am using the rDAC in a different setup than Oppo 95. Actually I haven't compared the two, since I am not an expert in this area.

@Hassan,
Congrats.
Will buying the Oppo from Amazon.com be costlier?
Thanx.

I have never seen Oppo selling at a lesser retail price (discount) anywhere. I would recommend buying directly from Oppo as it is direct from manufacturer. The only difference can think of is the shipping cost and it wasn't bad with Oppo either. Please contact the Oppo sales they will help you with cost estimate and any other query you may have.

Actually will be cheaper if you buy from Amazon as local shipping is free for goods of this value. It will be better and safer to use a service like borderlinx to get it to India or hand deliver if you have someone coming over.

Hi, does this player run with 120Volt AC? Presume, you are using a step down voltage converter (230 Volt-120 Volt) if it is so. In such a case, it is possible that the sound quality goes down by about 25% or so..

You misread the above post, it says that it works on universal voltage from 110 to 230v range covering all regions of the world. You do not need any external step down converter and all, it works out of the box in any region.

Thanks

now pls do not confuse this to be "region free" :) though it can be made region free at a huge cost, about 7-8k and some opening of the player and fitting the kit inside. It doesn't require any soldering, but only inserting the plugs.
