Guys, bear with me .. 'repeat' question .. which 32" TV ..?

Finalized the Pana 32X50D!

Have not taken delivery of the LED as yet. Wifey wanted to buy an all-in-one audio set (its an outdated concept nowadays) provided with cassette, CD and USB drive. That should be available by Wednesday. So, the LED also comes in then.

The Pana 32X50D looked fine (they all do .. :indifferent14:) ). Watched both HD as well as SD thru it. Image was clean, sharp, with sufficient blacks and quite acceptable colours. Naturally, I do not disagree, the plasma colour is more natural and vivid in comparison. This is the older edge-lit, thin version with IPS panel.

Wifey would have been happier had I opted for a larger sized TV, but the MCP I am, stuck to my guns ... quoting our beloved, economist, uncorrupt PM's recent dialogue "paisey kya per par ughtey hain?" :p The other points too were discussed over again, there itself.

Price agreed: 29.5K inclusive of LG 29" faulty CRT exchange .. otherwise 31.5K. 2 year warranty.

Congrats on your purchase...

The rectified LG CRT TV was delivered by the electronics guy this morning. On switching on, again the pic issue was noticed. Around 3" on all sides of the screen was blank. He opened up the set again at home, replaced a square-shaped component (called PF), switched on. The blank area vanished, but a slight image fluctuation was noticed. Again opened up and soldered a small resistance to the PF and set it back again .... and lo ... a near perfect image, with good contrast, excellent colour resulted ...:sad:

Though, the guy said that the picture tube has definitely gone weak with a lessening of the green colour. When starting from cold state, the screen has very thin lines of green for, say, 15 seconds, after which they vanish. This, he said, is an indication of the green-colour weakness of the tube. Otherwise, the TV is back to normal ... as good as new!

Was having second thoughts as to whether to go ahead with the new buy (LED is to be delivered tomorrow). Family created a ruckus ... so, gave in. Now, look forward to welcoming a new technology .... with high hopes.

Ag'in a change in proceedings .. :p. This is what happens when there are too many choices and 'little' experience!

Now, settling for a 42" PLASMA .... Panasonic P42x50d ... @ 37K with exchange. The pricing looks too good to refuse! Have asked the retailer to go ahead with this, instead of the 32" LED.

Have to take the trouble to re-orient quite a bit of the HT wiring, to keep it within easy access ....

Ultimately you went for better picture quality(plasma) & bigger size :p
Wifey & kids must be jumping with joy
The 'Dictator' has been put in his place :ohyeah:

Well ........ she has to dump the boom-box purchase now. Its a cool 5.8K. I have'nt broken the news as yet .... let it come as a surprise!

Earlier it was 29.5 (LED) + 5.8 = 35.3K. Now, I have to shell out 1.7K extra on the earlier costs.

yeah you will enjoy this........very nice buy.
and dont buy anything about sound right now.take yoyur time and buy later.in a hurry and in a tight bugdet you may buy something that will give you headeach later.

Hi RamboV,

Even i changed from Philips 29 CRT to Panasonic 32 LCD TV more than a year back.....I reason i upgraded was to watch HD movies on it. I watch atleast 2 - 3 movies a week...But other than that, my wife watches serials on it for roughly 3 hrs a day... 4:3 SD content look Sharp on a CRT than the HD LCD TV.
Since his family members also watch more of 4:3 SD content, my recommendations were for 29 CRT at just 1/3 of the cost of LCD TV.
BTW it might take few more years in my opinion to get full fledged HD channels on our STB's.

Accepted and truly accept the serial response. :ohyeah:

Oh by the way, do you know who i am

How about a TL speakers for the 5.1 (compact version) including the sub to go along with the plasma's.

Aatish, do consider the fact that 32" Panel might not suffice since you/your family is used to a 29" CRT. It will take a bit of getting used to the smaller 32" screen. Get atleast 40" flat panel which has roughly the same real estate as a 29" CRT.

Hey
I use a 29" crt and it definitely does not feel so large as a 40" fp. Didnt do a side by side comparo ofcourse.

@Avid, the samsung d650 is a new 100hz crt model you can consider for all of 14k inr:)

Sent from mobile on a crappy keyboard. Pls excuse typos.

Good choice, Avidyarthy. A 42" plasma at that price is hard to beat. Am sure your family will love it.

37 is gud price mate- its running @ 44k in blore now

Dunno .... they said its out of stock (with them) .... most supplies have come in for P42XT model ... wanted me to go for that @ 43K. I dont want 3D, hence turned it down. Jush wanna the basic P42X50 model @ 39K.

Wifey wants to keep the LG CRT .. wants to patch it up with a DVDp, so that she can watch her wares, in peace .... upstairs ... no space downstairs. So, the Plasma (when it arrives .. maybe, this weekend) would have an excess of SD feed and a bit of HD, from the "DEN" cable set-top box and the existing DVDp.

take a LCD cheaper one - videocon or vu or lloyd - something really cheap and smaller size for occasional viewing- get rid of the CRT

AND YEAH EVEN @ 39 - ITS a good deal

Hi
Which shop are you considering for your purchase?? I'm also looking for Panasonic Plasma in NCR.

Enuf of the blank wait for 42x50d plasma .... still out of stock. So, had the Sony 40EX430 (direct led type) delivered at home. It was delivered and installed @ 37K ... grey market, of course!

Have gone ahead and done the required adjustments (hit & trial) on SD viewing. Must say, very good picture quality after the spade-work. Very good blacks and maybe, a notch lower 'colour' quality visa-vis plasma. Definitely, the major headache of IR also would not be there now. Thats yet another thing of importance ... so, do not mind sacrificing the slightly better pic quality of the other technology.

What sets me back thinking .... 40EX430 weighs @ 7 kg, which is a cool 7 kg lighter to the edge-lit 40EX650 model's 14 kg. A bit here and there is digestible, but, in this case, it is exactly half the weight! Any technically heavy reasoning for this?
