Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Hi Gopi or anyone from bangalore,

could you share the customer care or contact number for new connection?

Am staying at Mahadevpura, is the service available on this area?

What is the monthly charges after the first free year for HD?

Thanks

Yes Ritz..it is possible to record video through USB once they release the firmware update...we all are wondering when that is going to happen..:rolleyes:

I guess the issue with the Dolby sound on HD channels is somewhat ok many times...but still interim issues exists...

Now Many channels missing, inc SD Star Sports, Star Cricket SD, ESPN SD, Sony Six SD, Star Movies SD, Zee Cafe SD, Star Gold SD, etc. etc. Almost about 20 channels. I will list all the channels later tonight. I have called the LCO and he is coming over to identify the issue.

Any one else in Bangalore facing similar issues?

PS: Now no sound in MTUNES HD.

The LCO guy visited yesterday and fixed the issues. It seems the signal strength was low and this was causing the issue. The cable line connection connecting to the internal wiring was connected of a branch instead of the main line and this was causing the signal drop.

Now all channels are available and sound is restored to MTunes HD as well.
Etv Kannada which was taken off air is also now back. It seems that Reliance has taken over the distribution and was demanding more money per Month more, negotiations were underway and hence the channel was taken off air.

finally, jumped in to go for Hathway HD. Gonna say bye bye to Reliance HD in couple of months :)
I noticed that the model that has been given to me is HDS200 ( Fully BIS compliance, Fully DVB/C compliance , NDS CAS embedded ) - not sure about those technologies  but cable guy told that this is new model.

Not yet, activated but will be done soon by evening.

Is it so that this set-top boxes' HDMI port can't carry 5.1 audio yet? why I have to use SPDIF?

I am using the HD box which is from the first lot when hathway launched HD services. I can confirm that hathway carries dolby on HDMI cable. I have connected STB to TV via HDMI and my TV recognizes dolby whenever dolby is available. I have connected my TV to home theater via SPDIF cable.

If your TV doesn't support dolby and if you have selected dolby in the HD STB settings, then you can't hear audio. In that case you can do one of the following
1) Change the HD STB to select PCM audio
2) if you have a home theater connect your HD STB to home theater via SPDIF cable.

Hey Chirag, congrats!
How about some snaps of your newer model STB please..

Thanks!

ok, I have attached some pics.

I changed the settings on my receiver and it confirmed that it received Dloby Digital through HDMI :yahoo: :yahoo: so SPDIF is not required.

Mtunes HD also carries dolbi digitial without any issues.

I noticed ocassional video hang. Remote is nice and easy to use. Channel switching time is poor as expected.

all 20 HD channel qualities are really good. On par with reliance HD.

all SD channels are pathetic to view on 50" ( Reliance is far better )

EPG is not getting loaded for all channels yet.

Three unconfirmed news from cable guy:

1. USB ports are for recording into external hard disks. It will be enabled later on with software update
2. Hathway gonna add more HD channels including south HD channels ( count may go to 24 and later 30 but not sure by when)
3. HD channel quality will go up from 720p/1080i to 1080p. Not sure by content or by upscaling.

It doesnot matter , hehe, I don't think you would need an OFC or for that matter it can not be a feasible solution even if you need it...

Chirag, What steps did you follow to get Hathway HD? I called main office, they asked me to get in touch with LCO. LCO is downplaying HD box. My LCO is Thirumala Cable Network.
