Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Yes..Hathway HD has completed 1 year. Here are few updates..

I have paid 6200/- for 2 TV's for one more year (1 TV with HD Set-up box and the other with regular set-up box). This payment is inclusive of all SD channels and 20 HD channels. Any additional HD channels comes with a price.

As per my cable operator it has been split into 5200+1000 for 2 TV's. Hence you can consider as 5200/- for single HD Box for one year.

I am getting the error message This service is blocked(4) on many HD channels. Is any one who took HD connection more than an year back facing this issue?

Called Hathway. My one year subscription on HD has expired and hence the message. I need to pay them before I can see the HD channels. They never messaged me or there was no information as to HD channels will be blocked today.

While talking to customer care, they told me they will be adding SUN HD channels. Not sure how true.

That is quite costly. I remember paying Rs 6666 including set top box. Now I guess that the cost for HD +SD channels for one year will be 5200? About 440 per month

Anyone have the list of HD channels Hathway offer in Bangalore? I am mainly interested in English movie channels and Star Workd HD. Trying to decide between Hathway and Tata Sky HD

How is the quality of Hathway HD as compared to tata sky or a videocon?
Cost wise set top box + yearly rental, hathway is the most expensive in bombay whilst videocon is the cheapest/

Experience has been good. I can't comment whether it is better than DTH as there are many features in DTHs these days like recording, movies etc which are not there in digital cable as of now. As far as only SD channels are concerned, you will get all the channels for just 150-300 depending on the area.
I did see some improvement in SD channel clarity with HD box but it is not significant.

Sad news. Hathway has started watermarking its channels  in Bangalore.
So SD channels get a transparent logo at the bottom of the screen and the HD channels get one near the center of the screen towards the right edge.
Fortunately, Logo is transparent. Not too distracting in SD, but looks out of place in HD.
Maybe it can be moved to bottom of the screen in HD too.

I too was disappointed to find the watermark just a while back. I knew it was inevitable but atleast the good thing is that it is much less obtrusive than some DTH ones.

The point of HD seems lost with most service providers that when they provide such high quality picture but ruin it with a watermark.
