Hi Members,

This is my first post, and I have spent some time reading through various posts on this forum to collect information on the following models, that I am considering to buy:

Sony 40EX710
Sammy LA40C630 K1R
Panny P42V20D

My budget is 65K (buying by 20th Feb) and I am planning to use the TV with TS HD and PS3. My usage is hardly 15-20 hrs/week.

I need help in understanding which one is best for my needs in terms of PQ, longevity etc. Any opinions and experiences are appreciated.

Panny P42V20D is best afaik ,you can search the forum for more details regarding this model ,there are enormous owners having this Panny P42V20D in our forum...

Sony EX710 40 inches...but if u can get EX700 40 inches then buy it, the only diff is panel color, rest same. but price diff of 3-4k. and if possible wait for Budget 2011, already EX710 price has come down to 69990...i pray it comes down further as even I plan to buy it ;)

I was in same dilemma and after long research on many forums I have decided to go in for Panasonic 42V20D which is the perfect blend of the best product for the best price....

thanks for your inputs guys. I do have HD content as well as going for a PS3. Only question with V20D is if it is good for gaming... since LED has an edge there I have heard.

Panasonic P42V20D is the best option at your price point. I have P50v20D and it's been performing well for SD and HD signal. Samsung can be ruled out all together considering their poor customer service record as experienced by many on this forum.

Latest LEDs have much better blacks, and within some time blacks like plasma would be achieved...

I saw demo of Pana vierra and Sony Ex series and I loved Sony! the brightness, sharpness, colours were really so vivid, the motion flow tech also takes care of the fast moving videos/graphix...

I think Led would b a better bargain these days...

Kindly check out the picture quality of the latest LED's from Samsung and then compare and comment; I have gone through a 10 day pre-buy exercise period doing all this and checking all picture quality with my content personally and comparing; kindly also keep in mind the price benefit ratio...

I am in favour of the leds though am evaluating the plasmas as well. Saw some samsung c7000 series and bravia ex710/hx800 models. They look real great. Eat less power but high on initial blow to pocket. Again Gaming, IR, burn-in, etc lot of disclaimers to kept in mind if i have to opt for plassma. wish i could hire two side by side and keep them for 6 yrs before buying.

well I have seen panny V20 50 inches and Panny LED TV that though side by side comparo. I have seen that Panny V20 has better blacks as it's Plasma but Panny LED TV has also gud blacks and Panny LED has IPS panel. So LED with S-PVA panel is gud as panny plasmas in black level with more clear and vivid picture quality. Samsung LED's with S-PVA panel can beat Panny plasma, the same goes for SONY, SONY's LED with S-PVA Panel can easily beat Panny Plasma though it also have world known "Bravia Engine 3" which further increase color accuracy, contrast ratio, Black Levels, vivid images with very very less power consumption. Where no such issues in LED such as Image retention and all such problems which Plasmas have till now.

Upcoming OLED TV's can beat the plasma hands down let it be blacks levels or anything.

Out of Sammy 7 and bravia two models you checked which one would you rate better ?

Suggest a TV for a budget around 35k

Hi,
I have a budget of around 40k(max) and looking to buy a LCD or an LED(if any), would like to welcome your valuable suggestions in this regard,
Thanks in advance...

Samsung one was so bright that forst look would stick to it. Since it was costing highest among the ones on display the ezone guys had kept the motionflow on only in that one and demonstrating people that the soap opera effect is the true clarity / picture perfectness of the SAMSUNG :) However if you continue to stare at the samsung for more than 10 to 15 mins you will start straining your eyes I believe and in that respect the BRAVIA Ex series will get along. Although I think people should give time personally to demo these with brightness reduced to same levels and also other features like motionflow.

IR in current generation Plasma is a little bit over hyped, try abusing an LCD/LED panel in the same way and you will get IR no surprises here .....

In most cases you wont find many people around you who have suffered permanent IR with LCD, LED backlit, Plasma or CRT TV, at the most its temporary IR which gets cleared the moment screen gets refreshed. You have to really abuse a set to get permanent IR.

I was in the bandwagon for a flat panel TV recently, Plasma to be honest was not even in my list considering the bad reputation that has been stuck around ... I almost finalized on the ex 710 until i went for the demo on a Panny Plasma. The vivid and bright image on the ex710 sure looked good but didn't suit my taste since the colors were not so natural. The colors on the Plasma were natural and if you like the souped up image quality then even that can be calibrated, and input lag on gaming is nil :D ...

Also please read the user manuals carefully, a lot of people say the warning on IR is put only in Plasma panels , here's and extract from the Samsung user manual for an LED backlit set which i got it from AVS forum sometime back when i was checking on the sets.

The second page of the Samsung User Manual (from their website) for the above LED back-lit TV's has the warning:

Precautions When Displaying a Still Image
A still image may cause permanent damage to the TV screen

* Do not display a still image on the LED panel for more than 2 hours as it can cause screen image retention. This image retention is also known as screen burn. To avoid such image retention, reduce the degree of brightness and contrast of the screen when displaying a still image.
* Watching the LED TV in 4:3 format for a long period of time may leave traces of borders displayed on the left, right and center of the screen caused by the difference of light emission on the screen. Playing a DVD or a game console may cause a similar effect to the screen. Damages caused by the above effect are not covered by the Warranty.
* Displaying still images from Video games and PC for longer than a certain period of time may produce partial after-images. To prevent this effect, reduce the brightness and contrast when displaying still images.
