Help Required in buying 42" TV

O yeah , have been looking at the options for the 50". V20 is available for 80k here though trying to see if i can get a better deal as i could probably get the ST30 from thailand for around the same price. Is the Samsung ps50d550 comparable as i have not checked that as yet.

just wanted to know whether importing TV from abroad is a good option if we get a good discount say around 50%?
Are there any PAL/ NTSC system problems involved?
yes warranty is going to be a certain issue involved..
Please share your thoughts in detail..

I have gone ahead and purchased my plasma with bill. Dont think its worth the headache to carry from thai. On running models you can get a good price from grey market right here.

Many Congratulations :clapping:

Hope to get a nice review soon :)

I would like to know one more thing :

Would I be able to play games on ST30 through my lappy connected via HDMI cable ???

Someone had written the plasma don't work as PC Monitors, so I was a little worried... :(

There is nothing wrong in using plasmas as PC monitors. But you have to keep in mind:

1. Resolution : Low end plasmas have a resolution of 1024x768, at which the texts will appear as fuzy and soft. With full HD no such problem.

2. Be aware of burn ins: The task bar at the bottom is a problem as is the tool bars, if you are using it for long durations. So when using plasmas as monitor, keep the task bar auto hide and change the screen as often as possible.

3. Power consumption will be higher, so if the plasma is connected to a UPS, use one capable of handling the load.

Guys this post is regarding Sharp Aquos Quattron LC-40LE830M LCD panel with LED edge lighting. Could not find any thread related to Sharp panels hence posting here.

I happened to be in Lajpat Nagar a few days back and saw Sharp LCD/LEDs being unloaded. Went in to check these out and there were a 55" and a 46" on display. The adjoining wall had models from Samsung 8000, 7000 & 6600 series and on the opposite wall were Sony's NX720 and another model which was not switched on. Anyhow the 830M blew the socks off the other panels. I found it's PQ to be quite similar to my existing Hitachi LCD panel. In the sense that these do not produce an 'In your face' kind of colour/image but a have more muted output. This has left me totally confused as I had made up my mind on an HX800 40" and was only waiting for the 'Shradh' period to get over to pick up the tv. Now the 830M is tugging at my heart and the remaining pull is that the model being offered at 98K for 40" is the same as what is on sale in Singapore and the Middle east etc. Do any one of you have an experience with Sharp? While I am completely convinced of their technological expertise in LCD panel manufacturing. I am not sure of their after sales support etc in comparison to Sony. Look forward to your inputs.

Funny how thinks changed in a span of just 8 months. When I started my search for the TV, 42V20 was costing nearly 70k and I was almost ready to buy it. Now, after 8 months I have got a 50" model that too TOP LINE PLASMA VT20 which was then 140k+++ for just 71k :) Half the price :o

^^^ Are you still going to use the TV with cable connection?
It is like buying a BMW and appointing an auto driver as driver.

Ordered Airtel HD Recorder DTH Connection, hopefully it performs according to the capabilities of the TV, if not now, in near future at least. :)
