Help Required in buying 42" TV

peeyushm, that's great news. Could you please specify which showroom were you able to see the new models? And also, which are the new models available? I'm specifically interested in the ST series.

I saw the Pana 42 X30 plasma at Bajaj Kukatpally. No other 2011 models were available there. I visited the shop last Saturday.

No, although I saw these two sets in two different shops the same day, both running some blue ray content and V20 still rules. X30 PQ suits normal viewing (very similar to X20) and is definitely VFM given that now it is provided with two USB ports.
So IMO ppl looking for cool colors, nice clarity, average sound, long warranty, nice looks, easy on pockets, USB movie, 42" screen at 39000 (quoted at Bajaj) can opt for this set.

IMO You need to decide on the following before you can reach a decision

1. Plasma vs LED
2. How important is screen size for you
3. How important is 3D for you


And then of course what kind of prices are you being offered.

With info on these members can give you better suggestions

What's your budget? I have ordered a LG 42LW5700 for 74K. Was floored with the 3D quality, comfort, affordability of the 3d glasses. 2D quality is only slightly lower than Sony Ex720 if you compare it properly. But the LG had better viewing angles. If 3D quailty is not important to you, go for the Sony 40NX720. Mind you, the Sony NX710 offer that you have qouted is mostly for the demo pieces that you see in the showrooms. Cross check again. If they you are giving you a fresh packed piece, go for this bundle. You won't regret (if 3D quality and comfort is not important to you).

I'm planning to go for either LW6500 or ST30D by this weekened. i did a side by side comparison with SD channels (Regional channels) and ST30D had a good PQ whereas LW5700 looked good with Star movies HD.....

can you let me know your experience with LW6500 for viewing SD channels (DTH). Im planning to buy either LW6500 or ST30D in the next 2 days and confused which to choose.

I'm only concerned abt the SD channels quality as 75% usage will be only DTH viewing. i checked the showrooms and LW6500 PQ looked a bit artificial (with kind of soap opera effect) with noticiable motion blur for regional channels whereas it was fine in ST30.

First, I think I should tell my requirements :-

1. Maximum use for watching cable TV {Can opt for DTH service (HD/non HD) if suggested }.
2. Playing Video Games through my PC/lappy.
3. Occasional DVD movies (say once in a month or so).

Now, My budget is max 70k, would perfer to keep it lower...
Also, My viewing distance would be 12 to 14 feet.

Further, few models I like :-

1. Panasonic 42V20D (Awesome PQ)
2. Panasonic 42X20D (Gr8 VFM)
3. Lg 42Le5300 (Stylish thin design, looks awesome even when switched off)

Please help me decide...

I am getting it from Shahs. I am sure you can get a better price from other stores. Go to a store like Rathna Stores. You may get a better deal

I did check SD channels but couldn't find much difference but as I have mentioned earlier, 2D picture quality was slightly lesser when compared to a Sony (Ex or NX series). But I have Tata Sky HD+ and also believe that most prominent channels would go HD within a year. I was particularly interested in the 3D. LG's passive 3D technology is the future and the passive glasses are just 400 Rs a pop compared to the 4000 Rs for a Sony active 3D glass. Almost no 3D crosstalk. If 3D quality is not important, I would highly recommend going in for a Sony EX720 or NX720. I didn't look at the samsung much as Sony uses Samsung's SPVA panels on their TVs. LG uses it's own IPS panels.

I am pretty lost. Decided on the v20 but its discontinued and not getting a fresh piece. I have decided to go for a plasma. My usage would be cable with stb - sd & hd movies. Saw the x30d & the v20 side by side and x30 is definetly a no. Any other suggestions that i can go and check as most retailers not stocking plasma's.

Size - 42 "
Viewing Distance - 13 ft

Kindly let the best price in India for 50ST30D and 42ST30D...

If I am able to get 50" below 1 lac, then would go for that else for the 42" one. :yahoo:
