Help Required in buying 42" TV

42v20 has been discontinued, so its quite difficult to get one.
Since you said no for X30, you may consider ST30. PQ is up there with v20, and tons of features to boot :) . Costs ~70k and comes with one pair of 3d glasses (one pair = 1 glass, in order to avoid confusions :D ).
This is a 2011 NeoPDP Infinite Black Pro panel.

Also for 13 ft, you can easily go for 50inches. 50v20 is just 80k, and for that price, nothing comes even remotely close in VFM department

I am pretty lost. Decided on the v20 but its discontinued and not getting a fresh piece. I have decided to go for a plasma. My usage would be cable with stb - sd & hd movies. Saw the x30d & the v20 side by side and x30 is definetly a no. Any other suggestions that i can go and check as most retailers not stocking plasma's.

Size - 42 "
Viewing Distance - 13 ft

First, I think I should tell my requirements :-

1. Maximum use for watching cable TV {Can opt for DTH service (HD/non HD) if suggested }.
2. Playing Video Games through my PC/lappy.
3. Occasional DVD movies (say once in a month or so).

Now, My budget is max 70k, would perfer to keep it lower...
Also, My viewing distance would be 12 to 14 feet.

Further, few models I like :-

1. Panasonic 42V20D (Awesome PQ)
2. Panasonic 42X20D (Gr8 VFM)
3. Lg 42Le5300 (Stylish thin design, looks awesome even when switched off)

Please help me decide...

Hi, it is unfair to compare the V20 and X20 together...............v20 being top of the line while x20 is a basic entry level..........no comparison!!! V20 is the award winning tv of 2010. from the list I would blindly go for the v20. Let me know what you decide.

Looking for a dealer for Panasonic VIERA TH-P50ST30D in Mumbai. Please provide me with details of a dealer/shop dealing in Panasonic plasma TVs. All the Vijay Sales, Croma, Ezone etc. don't do plasmas.

You have to wait till Diwali for the price to come down below 1lakh. :)

Dealer told that Diwali schemes will start from 15th of this month :)

Already told that I have decided ST30D :ohyeah:

Further, I just wanted a Value for money HDTV then, thats why both were in the short list. With time I realised the difference :)

perfect choice!!! you couldnt have got a better tv. do not fall for what people talk about plasma vs LCD/LED...............plasma still remains the king!!! and the ST30 is the best there is.............Let us know how you find the experience.

Looking for a VFM model.
what is the best price for 42X30, 42U30 in pune & where.

Also if somebody can tell whether some pana models have less reflection.

Reflections will be more or less same between Panasonics, Sammys and Lgs. Hey, after all they are all glass and they all reflect.
You need anti-glare coating which comes only on some of the higher end plasmas. (series 6 or above in Sammys, and ST30 or GT20 or VTxx series in Panasonic).

O yeah , have been looking at the options for the 50". V20 is available for 80k here though trying to see if i can get a better deal as i could probably get the ST30 from thailand for around the same price. Is the Samsung ps50d550 comparable as i have not checked that as yet.

Be very careful when importing plasmas, as such they are fragile, and they should be transported only in vertical position.

Won't import it myself , know a dealer who would do it , trasportation & damage is his headache , i will test it here and then take.

Yes i know the dealer directly , been introduced by a friend. First time i am buying thru him though. Warranty on imported stuff is not possible. Price for V20 he has given is 80k as of now. This is without bargaining and with full bill and warranty. Will meet him today , lets see what he has arranged.

I am also planning to buy a 42'' tv. Is there any model without the usb playback functionality? Since I have a HD media player I will not be using the in-built player in the tv.

Consider the usb as a bonus and don't use it if you have hd player.:D. Look for models with good PQ and are VFM.

Will Sony 3D Glass work with Panasonic ST30 ? :p

There is a huge difference in price, so can I buy Sony Glasses for Panasonic Plasma ?
