HT-S3105 vs HT-S5105

dear guys , i decided to buy any one of them but i want to know which one is better.HT-S3105 has 130w sub woofer passive but HT-S5105 have 90w active sub woofer.for 130w sub, bass will be better that HT-S5105 or not.

i live in kolkata can anybody tell me where HT-S5105 is available at reasonable price?

Get the 5105 due to the active sub woofer. YOu will be better off in the long run.

As suggested 5105 is better for active sub & the AVR of 5105 is superior to 3105 with many options too.

sub wattage is not a very strict criteria for making a choice though it is an indicator on the relative strenghts. A bigger difference you will notice is between a powered and a passive sub. Always go for the active or powered one.

Power sub has dedicaled circuit & powersupply,so it can give you seamless,pure continuous 90w output,whereas power to passive comes from common power supply used for all other channels.So it cannot give same response all the time.

Whats the price? why did u decide? Are you sure it meets all your needs? what would be connecting it to?

Also, look at S6100 if its available. The receiver you get with 6100 is more versatile and will also serve you well in future as its capable of TrueHD and other formats.

Then 5105. But pls think about it as it a one time investment. May be you can try 606 with other speaker combinations.

Do post your price constraint so we can suggest based on that

i cant find onkyo HT-S6100 in kolkata, can u tell where it available in kolkata, also in cheap price.

Honestly which one did you like?
3105 is Bassy bcose its AVR has special setting called OR-EQ which boosts Bass,on other hand powersub adjustments are on back of SW which must be @ lower level.

So dont get confused,decide which one did you like.

thanks spirovious for ur suggestion but i think it may be 3100 sub wattage is 120 and 5105 sub wattage 90 for this reason 3100 bass is prominent and 5105 bass is not good as 3100, am i right or wrong , pls tell

Now will go to Basics-
3105 sub has impedence of 6ohms & sesitivity must be lower than sub of 5105(pls.check)
5105sub sensitivity may be high & imp lower than3105(most of power sub has lower impedence)

In this case 90w is much more powerful than 120w duo to lower imp & higher sensitivity.(may be double)

Check speci & decide.

i chk specification then i understand
3105/3100 is more power than 5105 and its best.

but in reliance digital they said 3105 is obsolete model and in promises instrument pvt ltd they said 3100 is obsolete.which one true i dont know, can any one have any idea pls share. 3100 is much louder and sound quality and bass is good than 3105, but 3105 wattage is high than 3100. for this reason i cant chose which one i buy ?
