Hi Anil ,

I was referring to all songs from movies from the early days of Raaja , which they had released earlier - they still hold the rights for these movies .

GRAMATTHU ATTHIYAYAM /PONNU OORUKKU PUDHUSU /Bhadrakali etc .

I have their Golden Hour / Legends (5 Cd pack) - Raaja and Yesudas/ Ilayaraaja sings for you / and few cds which have Mullum Malarum , Meendum Kokila and others .

Looking for more .

But I prefer to listen them in Vinyl. :licklips:

Had a chance to hear Raja master pieces in Agni Natchathiram in German MAESTRO..that too in a car audio setup. It was a high end speakers from them (i think Concept line). Powered by a 6 channel German MAESTRO amplifier and Eclipse HU. The beauty of this setup is the inverted titanium dome tweeters which has an ultra fast speed. The songs that i had listened more than 100 times sounded completely different in this setup. It is not about the mids or highs. It was about the pace, instrument separation. It was not about the vocals...it is about the instruments and composition. I was completely blown away by the magic of Raja.

The reason i am posting here is to show that Raja's music will reveal its true form in these high end setups. That too music created couple of decades ago. Raja knows that most of the people would not hear the music the way he created them. But, still they become timeless masterpieces appreciated by all. I saw a new dimension in Raja's music that day. Wish many people have the luxury of listening what i did so that they can appreciate the genius of Raja a lot more.

I think Agninatchatram was not recorded using DIGITAL mastering. I assume what you heard was a DIGITAL version.
Using a 16 bit , 44.1 KHz sampling i.e. CD AUDIO, digital recording does not capture the complete sound wave. It approximates it with a series of steps. Some sounds that have very quick transitions, such as a drum beat or a trumpet's tone, will be distorted because they change too quickly for the sample rate. [I am not qualified to write it though.....]
So, just think how it will sound in a good quality analog system , played through a good linear tracking vinyl player.
 
i dunno if this has been discussed but his songs for the telugu movie sriramarajyam was fantabulous. that was his recent best i guess.

and i love ilayaraja+vamsi and ilayaraja+maniratnam combination songs.

and also BackGroundScores in raja sir movies is just terrific..though sadly they arent recognized as much as his songs.

Both are Mono , as the word STEREO is not written either on the cover or the record. I played the Telugu version just now, and did not find any STEREO like effect.

Dear anil and Murali, not sure of the ep but the Lp is in Stereo!needs a separate thread for these confusions!!

yes i did attend the program..it was more of an interactive session where raja shared many nostalgic memories attached to creating some special songs...answered lots of questions from celebrities like gowtham menon, vivek, parthiban and also from the audience..I raised a request to release ' nee thane en pon vasantham' in LP format also if not in large volumes, atleast a few collector s editions to which he redirected the qustion to gowtham menon and gowtham obliged...earlier during the break time i met gowtham menon and had requsted the same to him...he said its an excellent idea and he will difinitely take it up and see what he can do about it..overall the program was interesting, informative and enjoyable bcos raja was at his humorous best. and also bcos i was sitting in the front row..:) ....he did sing many lines from many of his famous songs with a handpick of his orchestra members..uploading a few pics too...
