Check out Agi music - search for ilaiyaraaja remastered in iTunes. Some of the albums like Agni natchatram is very good! Slowly buying some rare collections from there. Good quality encoding for 256 kbps.

I called up Agi music to check the encoding and they claim that all their tracks are 320 kbps encoded, even ones released as old as early 2011. Can anyone who has tracks from agi music confirm if they are 320 kbps ?

I just found the raja collection from 600024 and very tempted to buy it IF its truly 320- kbps... thanks

Bought an old audio cd of Rajnikanth hits (AVM). Not bad, though one of the best track in the collection goes mute for a few seconds. The shopkeeper didn't give a single rupee reduction either:sad:

Hi all,

I am a huge IR fan and stumbled upon this thread by chance. I found this thread very interesting and finished reading all the posts. I am going to find all those songs that everyone has posted. Thanks a bunch everyone.

Couple of things that crossed my mind:

We seem to have some real experts in here that can rip apart an audio CD (I am not referring to the regular ACD ripping to MP3) and analyse the quality. Are there any chances that they can volunteer/assist at these recording companies to help them enhance the quality of whatever sources they are extracting from? Most of them seem to be doing poor quality transfer/extracts so...

I have been content with 128kbps MP3s so far but this thread has prompted me to seek higher quality content, esp the 6 channel enhancements done by Mr Muthusamy sounds interesting. Vinyls are a far fetch for me in terms of cost and maintenance (at least for the time being). Never even saw a gramophone in real life

I also agree with another FM's view that recording quality/technology of 70s and 80s can't be compared to current technology and also depends on the expertise of the recording engineer for that particular movie plus the budget that the producer could afford. This might explain why a movie of a later year may sound worse than an earlier movie and so on.
