Hey everyone,
Are there any Indian hifi audio amplifier designer ? I mean anyone in past or present who has designed a genuine fantastic amp or invented any new topology or contributed significantly to audio amplification. Just curious.
Regards

Thanks gopib.
Also know about Dr. Adya Tripathi. Tripath Founder. :)
Anyone else ?

Hi,

Not amplifiers but Subir Pramanik did quite a lot of work at B&0.

Subir Pramanik - Bang & Olufsen Engineer
Subir K. Pramanik has a degree in general science from the University of Poona, India and in engineering from C&G, Imperial College, University of London.

He joined Bang & Olufsen in 1965 and among other products developed Beogram 4000, the first turntable with an electronically controlled tangential tracking tonearm (1972) and the ultra-lightweight 4-channel cartridge MMC6000 with a Beryllium cantilever and the multifaceted 'Pramanik' stylus (1973). He has also developed test discs and instrumentation for measurements of turntables and cartridges. He has been associated with research projects such as "Dolby" HX-Pro, the Archimedes psychoacoustic project, and the ADTT project.

He has written many magazine articles and made numerous presentations on audio concepts. He received the prestigious Achievements in Audio award from the British Hi-Fi News magazine in 1990 and is a senior member of the IEEE; listed in the International Who's Who.

Rajiv

I don't know if they have invented new topologies but Rethm, Audire and Lyrita are making their own amps. I know for a fact that Rethm makes monoblocks and integrateds, all tube based. Plus of course the amp to drive the in-built woofer in their Sadhana speaker (I guess solid state in this case). AFAIK, Audire also makes different models of amps.

Then there's Cadence with their superb Canasya monoblock power amp, and lower down the chain, the HP-1 integrated.

It would be nice if folks contribute to lesser known gems in the Indian audio firmament.

@wlg Sorry not be clear. I am not buying the amp. I am curious because yesterday while browsing various forums came to know some manufacturer using exact copy of a well known design.

I have nothing against anyone nor am I taking moral high ground. We have enough talent to make an amp design or improve it, so why copy anyone else's design. That prompted me to start the thread.

@ Captain. Yes siva is talented guy.

Comforting to know most of the manufacturers design their own amps. If there are more please do share.

Though not appreciated in recent times for their products, Amar Bose (Bose) Did invented some innovative loudspeaker designs at earlier stages of start of his company.
