Indian audio amplifier designers

Lots of names coming up. Thanks guys :)
@quad : Yes, have already posted his name.

As mentioned in the post the idea of thread was to to find genuine Indian audio designers. That means who designs..... circuits, any new topology, improvements in audio amplification. (That includes everything from source to speakers). As mentioned in previous thread (#8) copying straight forward circuit design from Web and making an amp doesn't sound good :).

But if anyone feels to post manufacturers also, please do. May be it would help those who are looking for Indigenous amps.
Regards

I keep on checking techno history , I feel noone.
No offence ment but everyone changes topology to a bit, real designers bring breakthrough technology.Read stories about carver, dr harman ,ray dolby etc.
I do not feel any indian in that league.

I agree with you Hemantbhai that we dont have many people in research, development, innovation in high fidelity audio design. Personally will not like to compare Scientists, Musicians, Singers & Creative people with each other. Some links I found....

Indian scientist develop audio digital signal processor
Featured Articles about Indian Scientists - Page 3 - Economic Times

and radio frequency cochlea
Asia Times Online :: South Asia news, business and economy from India and Pakistan
which may find use in audio.

@rikhav : Yes good review by MBR.
@hifiashok : No info about zypher labs on the net. Are you talking about kanwar's amps ?
@moktan : Of course J.C.Bose the scientist and inventor.
J. C. Bose Didn't applied for the patent as he thought it was morally not right to patent an invention which would help everyone. Great Man.

What about Lithos?

Dunno the people behind it but they've been known to make some great sounding and good looking speakers. Their site also talks about some breakthrough stuff called Q-balance...

yes. the site seemed up for a short time but my guess is it is being re-built. there are some details/pix on 'another' forum.

Lithos doesn't make amps, they use this amp to power the q-bic sub.
AV2.2P

(Sonodyne sells, if not makes it in India, methinx, LOL)
Welcome To Sonodyne

I have both the noa1 and q 10 setups with both subwoofers. The noa sub is a wonderful passive design. Great SQ, build and VFM, all in one.

Regards

Sorry...going OT...

Do you think Lithos would sound good in a home theater setup?

Proof is in the pudding ! If results are what matters, then i know of only three manufactures who do high end amps in india.

Cadence - Canasya

Acoustic portrait Some of the solid state designs are as good as a mark levinsons

Audire mostly copied designs but they do it really well.

Rethm SET amp

Most of the other brands are just alternatives to imported budget hifi ;)

I may have missed out some gem, so correct me if I am wrong.

Its excellent in a Ht set-up but you need to have an AVR that takes 4 ohm loadspeakers as the Q 10s are. Now that does not matter with movies AT ALL, but if you pump music long and loud, the AVR gets quite hot, NOT THAT mine has ever gone into OVERLOAD or shut-down mode, NEVER, just gets hot. The sound is beautiful as the speakers are sealed ones so no port noise or muddiness. The sub is wonderful with the amp sitting outside and you have to use an addl filter box if using with an integrated amp(pre-out). with an AVR, the filter is not required as the sub-pre out is already dishing out only LFE.

The noa 1 i use as rears in HT and often for stereo use too. They are also sealed and make for a very serious setup with a wonderful pasive sub in the chain. Unique and simple. That the sound is GREAT is beyond doubt but what I like most is that you can kep listening for hours and hours at end with no headache or fatigue etc. The bulid quality is very rugged and they take very little space, too plus that both are wall-mountable or stand-mountable. Superb Stuff. Just note the fact that they are designed from scratch to play with the assosciated subs, thats all.

PS- I have a measly/humble philips center speaker and yet it (the setup as a whole) sounds SUPERB, imagine the enhancement with another Q10 as center. Do PM me your mob in case you ever decide to go in for these. I'll possibly be able to guide you on how to get a discount from Rajiv d' Souza.: )

Hi all,

Does anyone remember Binatone, named after Bina Ramani, whose brothers promoted the brand. I think they were manufactured in Hong Kong and were popular in the UK till the nineteen eighties. Did they have any Indian designers?

I have a feeling that Mr. Mo Naim, of Naim Audio, is also from the Indian subcontinent, probably Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Regards.
