last week reliance digital had 35-40 demo pieces of yamaha 299 in their showrooms all over India...

In case if you are taking a demo piece, be sure u ask for the discount. Reliance normally gives around 5 to 10 percent discount on demo stuff.

What is the best recommended setting you do for hearing 320 KBPS Mp3 music files via YHT-299? I try to use NERO 6 Music Decode option so that I could hear different sounds played in different speakers rather than use 5CH which makes same sound coming from all speakers? But I feel the bass is not felt much in both options. Though the output is good to hear, i feel there is some magic missing.

I have the equalizer set which is like < shape (as done by yamaha installation guy). Other settings are also seem to be fine. I also see the Adaptive DRC turned ON which is OK for both music/movies i guess (even for 6 channels encoded movies)

Can you try switching on the Extra Bass? There is some improvement in music when you switch on the Extra bass. But, Frankly the bass in YHT 299 is not that high. Music is very clear but if Bass is just about OK for me. I have tried some options by increasing the bass levels but it was no where close to what I was anticipating. So, somehow I came to conclusion that with the existing speakers I might not get bass as high as I was looking for especially while playing music files. For movies, I am still good with their performance. But for Me Music is good but not great. Thats why, I want to upgrade my front speakers in the future.

The Extra Bass can be enabled to set HIGH, only if i change the front speakers as 'large' instead of 'small'. Otherwise I remember, the extra bass is set to OFF and you cannot change it to 'ON'

Yes Murli.. You have to set the speakers as large to enable extra bass.

I too planned to change my fronts to FS. And searching for the best FS for a long time since i bought 299 in february. If u find a right one, just inform me.

Last wk i saw a demo for jamo FS with Denon x500. What a poor quality in sound i have ever experienced.
But now i zeroed with two FS for my yht299.
1. Dali Zensor 5
2. Mission m34i
I need to know the cost of these FS'. If anyone knows the price, please inform me.

Not sure, since i didnt had any demo of FS. I heard very good reviews about SP-FS52 and Dali Zensor.

With supplied spkrs, Yht 299 is soo good for movies. But when playing music in it, it lacks in BASS (for me). So i need FS to give some BOOM for music.

Me too from madurai. Yes I agree, for music we feel something is missing. I will probably wait for atleast 6 months before i open out purchasing floor standing speakers for my YHT-299. I am already bombarded for spending too much on electronic items in recent months :indifferent14::sad:

But i dream to have a large floor standing. hence I am interested to know what you guys finally end up with and the experience of it post purchase.
