Just bought Yamaha YHT-299

Me too from madurai. Yes I agree, for music we feel something is missing. I will probably wait for atleast 6 months before i open out purchasing floor standing speakers for my YHT-299. I am already bombarded for spending too much on electronic items in recent months :indifferent14::sad:

But i dream to have a large floor standing. hence I am interested to know what you guys finally end up with and the experience of it post purchase.

Count me in too guys. I too feel there is something missing when I play music. I would love to have a pair of floor standers to connect to my yht 299. I will probably wait for another may be 6 to 8 months before going for the upgrade.

Thanks,
Sandeep.

Thanks, will try this today. I think it needs to be connected to AV5 / audio1-2 jacks at the back to hear music from my mobile device.

Also, If i could live with wires, I need not spend anything more , as I can connect my mobile through 3.5mm to my YHT-299. So buying a Bluetooth adapter i believe, is only for the luxury of being wireless and it is not going to change the quality of music by any way.

let me know if my understanding is correct.

There are alot of Indian made receivers available in Amazon and Ebay, but their reliability is a serious concern. Many of them suffer from distorted sound and lack of range (some cant even got beyond 10 Meters). Belkin and logitech are good but have their own issues. The Sony BM10 has a reported range of 300 feet :clapping:

I would advice ordering one from abroad as you would get a much better product. My friend has Avantree and it is pretty good. Check out some bluetooth receivers in the link below:

The Bluetooth adaptor do the same job as the AVR's which offer bluetooth streaming and Airplay.

I tested 3.5mm mode by connecting my mobile to avr. The sound output was ordinary in analog mode [emoji31]

I also tested playing audio files through my laptop / mobile by connecting wireless to my LG LED TV (via miracast) and the sound I heard from my AVR was much better & the quality is soothing. I think i don't have to go for bluetooth adaptor or for a media player, as long as my LED tv does all that for me.

Hi,

I have just brought YHT-2910, it sounds awesome.

I have configured Receiver as hub, Receiver Out connected to Samsung Smart TV UA50F6800 HDMI1. Receiver HDMI 1 connected to set top box HDMI out.
I have also connected my TV optical out to Receiver Optical In with Toslink optical cable.

I am facing some wired problem:

When I start my all systems, all work fine my TV shows me Set top box output with surround sound. If I switch to Tuner or AV1 (optical in with TV usb audio) work perfectly.

But when I try to switch back to HDMI1 in Receiver (after 10 mint), TV don't show anything, on Receiver Display HDMI Out (Red) start continuously blinking.

After lot of permutation I realized that if I turn of my set top box and turned it on it start working.

Can someone help me out, what could be the reason and permanent solution for this?

pls reply on http://www.hifivision.com/surround-amplifiers-receivers/54319-yamaha-yht-2910-a.html

Thanks

Hi All,

After keenly going through this thread and many months of research, I finally went for the YHT 299. Been searching for it for a long time and finally got a demo piece at Reliance Digital Koramangala. I didn't wanted to miss on the find so immediately hopped on it:licklips: . Its a pretty clean piece which I got for 33k after a long round of negotiation and multiple visits. I also went for their RESQ warranty program for additional 3999 for 3 years which offers a replacement in case of any problem, for added peace of mind (it was a demo piece after all).:D

Still playing around with it and learning as am new to the AV world. Hope to learn from you all in the coming time.

First thing is I guess would be upgrading the sub to something more powerful for my music needs. Will keep updating.

Regards
Vinay

Hi Tushar,

Congratulations for 2910.

Can you tell me from which store you bought this system in Pune and had a demo.

Also, at what price you bought. Any freebies along with it.

Hi All,
I have a yamaha NS-P40 speaker set. I do not want to invest in an av receiver right now. Is there a way i can connect it to my TV. Is it ok if i buy a dvd player with 5.1 output.

Congrats vinay.. welcome to 299 family ..

Have posted it as a separate thread.. but posting my query here as this forum has YHT299 users.

I bought this HTiB 4 months ago. The receiver refused to switch on yesterday, and it has been that way even now. The unit is connected to Belkin spike buster, along with the sub-woofer and Tata Sky HD set top box.
The other equipment are working fine. There were no power fluctuations as well. Have raised a service request, but has anyone faced such an issue before?

oh no! it's quite scary to hear in just 4 months of usage. Please keep this forum updated about the outcome and charges for repair. hope you get it resolved at the earliest.

so far i haven't faced any issues in this package. I have read from few posts that inspite of using belkin spike buster, these issues happen. Better to use voltage stabilizer like V-Guard which I am using to connect my LED TV/AVR/SUB.
