Just bought Yamaha YHT-299

you may go for yht -196 + some hd media player (like asus)
I was looking for blue ray payer now...and came across these kind of media players.

Any one use fm radio in yht299.how many radio station it catches and how is sounds quality. Looking for ur valuable comments. Thanks in advance

sound quality of FM is good. but ensure the FM cable wire is put into a good place where it can get good signal. I have only configured 3 channels which I hear sometimes.

If your antenna is placed at appropriate location then it will catch/receive all transmitted channels (which are available in your city) in good quality. I have around 5-7 channels here are some are even Stereo.

For stereo channel, you will see STEREO glowing on AVR display/screen.

thanks dear for information

one last query
Is FM antenna comes with HTIB ? or I have to buy separate.
thanks

Yes FM antenna comes in the package itself. Easy to plug into the socket in AVR and keep the other end hanging. Fun!

The quality of FM sound is good, but it doesn't decodes the input sound ans transmits as it is. So you will see FM...(Frequency) all the time in AVR display.

thanks for ur input regarding yht299.
today i went to RD raipur they have one fresh piece, but when i saw it was unsealed, when asked they say that have to checked it within 21 days when it was arrived for any defects. is it true or salesman is showing me used package.

Yeah, like those morons at RD would have any clue about a defect if it jumped up and bit them in the rear. ;)

They have obviously opened the box for some reason or the other and are just giving you the usual rubbish. Dealers have no business opening a box however much of an expert they maybe and then putting it on sale for full price. If you want to you can try to get them to give you a lower price seeing as it is likely display / used equipment.

Thanks
i was also thinking for getting discount
lets see what happen tommorrow
i am going to buy

When i play movies via USB on my blu ray player, the AVR stream only 2.1 channels on straight mode, and shows decoder off and displayed 'PCM'. While the same movie played via USB on my TV sends 5.1 to AVR on straight mode.

Can I assume that my blu ray player will only send 2.1 sound to AVR if I play via USB as if i play any blu ray disc/dvd, it sends 5.1 to AVR without any issues. (though i faintly remember, i could able to sort out this issue when i initially tested my blu ray player few months back)

All the connections are fine, not sure where lies the issue!

Hi guys,

Where to find YHT299 in Delhi and around? I did find one but a demo piece at 30K. However, I am not too willing to take a demoed piece, probably sitting there for last 6 months like an orphan, hoping someone shall take her. :D

Pls update Delhi guys. Vijay sales, croma don't have it anymore. Reliance Digital Express is last hope. Or anywhere else you may know...pls do post
Thx

Finally after 5 days HT demo person did the setup.:yahoo:
I asked him to do only connections and no fittings.
For fittings he asked 500 rs for each speaker bracket + 350 fitting charges + 30 rs per meter for wiring work (he said he will be using silicon gun for sticking the wire on walls and no plastic casing).
I am going to try this on my own.

I bought new tata sky hd set up box ..this has optical port.

Current hook ups :
Setup box -> AVR using optical cable (to enjoy HD channel's dolby digital sound)
Laptop -> AVR using HDMI cable. (to enjoy flac or other files using foobar)
I have CRT tv as of now.
I dont have cd/bdp player.

Guys can you pls help me on following queries:
1. Which optical cable should i buy?
2. Which HDMI cable should i buy?
3. Which speaker brackets should i buy?

Thanks.

USB on the HTR only supports 2.1, I recall reading this in either the manual or on Yamaha's site. No issues with your setup.
