Got the culprit.
The hollow sound from the fronts and center was due to the fact that the HDMI pass through from AVR to TV had audio signals as well. This made the TV speakers work with AVR speakers and thus somehow creating a hollow/echo effect.
I did turn off audio pass through from AVR to TV since the AVR would drive my home theater speakers.
Now I have added rear speakers in the system as well since I just completed wiring for them. I will start on fine tuning the system and will update the thread accordingly.
