The salesman from reliance digital told me that it has 1
Year warranty. I am planning to go to them next week for stamping the warranty cards. Hope I'll get clearer picture then.

I talked to the Reliance Digital guy. He said that Philips BD Player has 1 year warranty. For getting reliance digital warranty, we don't need to stamp the card. Only bill will do.
For company warranty of the BD player, I think it's 6 months. I checked the booklet provided with the player and there is a page for warranty card and you can have it stamped for company warranty.

Dear all,

I recently purchased YHT-299 from Reliance Digital. RD people came for installation but they didn't brought wall mount. Their seniors are telling even Yamaha doesn't provide wall mounts. RD can purchase some local wall mounts and can arrange.
Can anyone share feedback on wall mount provided by Yamaha technicians.
Will Yamaha charge labour cost if they come for installation. I am not happy with RD technicians. RD people are telling I would have to pay charges to Yamaha and not to RD.

RD or Yamaha doesn't use their wall mounts, but they use local wall mounts, so not sure what they use but there are good quality mounts available. I guess they charge around 1000/- including installation for 2 wall mounts.

As Yamaha doesn't provide these with HT package, recently I have purchased Tanotis Wall mount (2 pcs.) just for try and I must say this is very good wall mount, it is too easy to install (I did myself). I have paid 699/- (free shipping) on Amazon India.

Hi prepress,

It will be very good if you can post some pics of it. I am really interested to know how the speaker is fixed to this wall mount and how flexible this is.

Dear Prepress, thanks a lot for your response. All Tanotis mounts are mentioned as ceiling mounts in amazon site. But as you mentioned they can be used for wall mount also, as I don't want to mount them at ceiling height.
One more help I would need is that some of the wall mount speakers have mentioned screw type 5 mm etc... I couldn't find the screw size. Do you have any idea???

Here is how I did it, however it can be fixed on wall too.
Thanks for the images. It looks good.

I'd like to know few more things about it:

1. If I fix the mount on wall, the speaker will be how far from the wall ?
2. How much it can be moved side ways (left right)?
3. can it be useful if we change the speaker?

Yes, In Tanotis package, you will get required screws for wall mount (around 3 types, in which you will use only one) many screws to use in all kind of speakers (hole), I have used which fitted in my Yamaha Speaker perfectly (definitely it was made for Yamaha) and kept others for future (in case I need them). Here is provided screw list.

M6x20mm Machine Screw (1)
M5x20mm Machine Screw (1)
5/8" - 32x5/8" Machine Screw (1)
1/4" - 20x1/2" Machine Screw (2)
M5x1/8" Plastic Washer (1)
#8-32 Round Key Hold Nut (1)
ST4.2x19 Self Tapping Screw (1)
ST5.5x19 Self Tapping Screw (2)
ST5.5x45 Self Tapping Screw (2)
8X38 Alligator Plastic Anchor (2)
M4x8mm Flast Head Machine Screw (1)

1. If I fix the mount on wall, the speaker will be how far from the wall ?
> It will be 5.5" far from the wall if you use complete accessories. However if you remove one piece from it, the distance would be 3". Even you can use only one piece to achieve 1" distance from the wall. But the maximum distance from the wall is 5.5" approx.

2. How much it can be moved side ways (left right)?
> You can move it 180 degrees (90 left, 90 right)

3. can it be useful if we change the speaker?
> As they provide some different size screws, I guess it will fit in mostly satellite speakers, you just need to try.

what is ypao?

Full form is "Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer".
In this, Yamaha provides a microphone which is to be connected to the AVR and the microphone should be fixed at listening position. When you run the setup after this, the AVR will automatically calibrate the system and adjust volumes for each speakers by determining the distance of the different speakers from the listening position.
Hope this helps.

Guys,

I see the 299 support Dolby True HD and DTS HD MA, but does this implicitely cover:

Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital Plus
DTS Digital
DTS HD

I hope it covers these as well even though on the site its only mentioned as DD True HD and DTS HD MA

The pic is a comparison between YHT 299, 2910 and 1810. Shocking to see that YHY 299 does not support Dolby Digital and DTS Digital. Both are pretty common audio formats as they save on space at the cost of some quality (Both are lossy encoding).

1810 is in line with 2910 with few omissions like HD counterparts of Dolby and DTS but they support Dolby Digital and DTS Digital.

Can somebody who owns YHT 299 confirm if it supports Dolby Digital and DTS Digital? The comparison pic is compiled on Yamaha India site.
