Hi,

I'm planning to change my 2 yrs old 30" Sony Bravia with a 40" (viewing distance is about 10-12ft) LED TV. I visited shops. But got confused with different LED TVs including 3D TVs. My max: budget is 70000/. I found PQ of sony is better than samsung or lg (not sure if it was adjusted like that or not). In 3D, I found that it'll be difficult to continue more than 45min continuous watching and bigger the screen size (more in price) better the experience. So for the time being 3D is rolled out.
So can you please share your views on 40" LED TV.
Thanks.

70K is good budget for 40" non 3D LED.
If you like Sony and ready to get net features the 40EX650 will be perfect for you.
NX650 is also at similar price but with monolithic design if you can avoid screen reflections.

You mean the NX650 series will not have any screen reflections ?. I heard that the monolithic design may fare well in its looks but not with viewing angles. Even i have purchased EX650 and its sexy... IMO shelling out extra 4k for that monolithic design is not worth it as it sufferes from bad viewing angles...

Thanks for the reply. What is the general view about samsung/panasonic etc led tv? I am not sure if my view about the 3D is in line with others. what is the general openion about the 3D tv?

I would say go for a Non 3D LED and get a big size TV to enjoy the TV. This is true that Sony had better picture quality than any other brand like lg,samsung.
so for Non 3D, I would suggest you to go for Sony.
If you want to go for 3D, then LG is the ultimate choice as they use the passive tech and are free from crosstalks and flicker.

You can get 50" plasma for 75~78k. Check out Panasonic 50UT50 or Samsung 51E550. Both are 3D with smart TV features and all the works. The downside of plasma TV is image retention but it can be controlled and prevented (Prevent Image Retention and Burn-in). Panasonic 50UT50 may not be easily available.

Plasma is more bang for the buck and definitely better PQ. But people have the mindset that plasma is old tech, bad, power hogger, etc.

If you are dead set on LED, you can go for Sony 40EX650 or the Samsung 40" 6 Series that will suit your budget.

check both plasma and led.and belive your eyes only.
if you are ready to take care the image retention care....go for plasma.
it cannot be beaten at size versus cost ratio.......and consider the better picture of plasma as free gift:ohyeah:.

would you belive before a couple of weeks a tv sales guy suggested....kya sir plasma..purana tech..aur wo aaapka room ko bahut garam kar dega..ac pe load bar jayega

For the past two months I have been tracking my current bills.
There is NO noticiable difference. All the comments that plasma will put a hole in the pocket are totally baseless.

Me too. Purchased plasma TV on 22 July and started its use 3 days later. As of writing this post, TV has been used for 1013 hours which makes it 7 hours per day. Monthly power bill for August, September, October and November has shown no change. Surprisingly in fact, it has gone down by some 20 units over the same period last year.

Plasma options: You have option of Panasonic 50XT50 which is much less than 65K. It is HD-Ready model. The full HD models are Panasonic 50UT50 and Samsung 51E550 but they are slightly more expensive (around 75k).

Is LED superior to Plasma? You will get conflicting opinions. Both have pros and cons. I do not wish to enlight another war. You read, and most importantly do a demo and decide.

I've seen Panasonic TH-L42DT50D and got it at 82000 with a printer free. How is this tv and deal? I found it great but let me know your views.
