I have it on auto.

Does this help?

I get the same results in speedtest & fast.com but netflix streamin never reaches 4k for me, which dns servers you use in your router setup? also you watch 4k stuff at nights? i normally watch around 9.30-11pm.

Thanks.

From my router settings page:

Primary DNS Server : 202.88.131.90
Secondary DNS Server : 202.88.131.89

I tested Netflix on Sunday late noon and it worked fine. Let me try now and post.

For people with 50mbps and above you cannot get 4k in netflix try the following. I only know it with pc. Download Netflix app for win 10 store. login. Netflix should pick you have a 4k hdr tv and will show movies and Tv shows available in that format. Select one for example marco polo. Start playing, now press crt+alt+shift+s you will current bitrate and CDN from where content is playing. select a high bitrate and change cdn if you want click override. now press crt+alt+shift+d to check your resolution and current bitrate and other information

insane79, I do not pause Netflix when playing movies. It takes a few minutes to reach the highest available resolution. I have been down sick but just got to check a few Dolby Vision titles and they look absolutely marvellous.

prankey, let me know steps to check and I'll do that.
Just keep running the info screen and monitor the bandwidth in complex scene with too many components like people, textures, etc.

Lucky that you don't have any bandwidth issues, my otherwise rock stable 100up/100down fiber used to struggle getting even 2Mbps bandwidth from Netflix servers. Guess like me many terminated their services because of this issue and it got sorted now. However don't have a way to stream 4k right now as none of the current device I have supports it.

Currently testing a TCL 4k Android TV which is giving excellent black levels, minimal DSE and good response time (below average gaming performance though). May start a thread to post calibration settings and detailed review as the TV is real VFM around 45k for a real 55" 3x HDMI 2.0 supported 4k TV

Does it work on an older PC? I thought its supported only on the 7th generation i5/i7 processors based PC/Laptop

Dont know about that, I am on 6700k and gtx 980ti. You should try I dont think its hardware related.

Had tried few days back probably on my laptop. Was showing 1080p only as max resolution. But it wasn't connected to a 4k TV so if you think 4k will show on my desktop with GTX970, can certainly try

Any clouding or light bleed issues in the tcl 4k tv? Do check in a completely dark room during night and especially during dark/night scenes.
Do post your feedback on this, would be of great help.

No, Netflix detects what Kind of display is connected. If its Full HD it will only display 1080p max. My solution was for people who have 4k Tv connected and have enough speed for 4k streaming but for some reason 4k is not streamed, in this case changing bitrate and resolution and CDN helps to get native 4k stream. It has nothing do with computer hardware. Also does TCL 55 inch 4k support 4k@60hz if yes at what YcbCr 422 or 444, limited or full range.

Yes it supports upto 444 60Hz (unfortunately processes at 4:2:2 Only and no way of getting full 444 by renaming input or graphics and game mode). I need to check if HDCP 2.2 is implemented well (not sure how to through a PC - nvidia control panel does confirm its HDCP compliant without giving version number).

Still skeptical if Netflix would allow lesser than 7th gen processors to pass 4k as per the which suggests its only available for PCs with those processors only

No bleeding but average clouding is there at higher backlight. I run at 0 backlight which has only one tiny cloud on the bottom right corner which seems to be result of someone aggressively pressing the triangular marketing sticker.

Way superior black levels, clouding/DSE and no bleeding as compared to Samsung, LG and Sony TVs with LG IPS panels. I just can't bear those TVs.

Panel seems generic with thicker diagonal filter on each corners which shows darker shadows in bright content.

Color shifts are there beyond 10 degrees and has a pink tint instead of white or blue we usually see. So viewing angle and lack of 10/11 point calibration options are the only weakness in addition to 8bit panels (10bit with FRC, accepts upto 4k at 12 bits).

Nothing too bothering and certainly extraordinary for a TV at rock bottom price.

Will start another thread with my detailed review.

Okay, so some things to report. The panel does have some banding including one nasty faint vertical line. Not visible on normal content but once you know it is there, you can't stop thinking about it. Thankfully no vignetting.

I tuned the picture settings and will post them in some time.

please do, did you put your oled backlight on "auto" ?

Cheers.

Here are the night time / dark room settings. Anything not mentioned is left at their default value. These are for my 55E6T and some values may differ for yours.

I watched La La Land "Epilogue" and "Audition" from a super nasty 2.57 GB file. Those 2 scenes just made me cry looking at the gorgeous images.
I need to get hold of the Blu-ray disc for La La Land and Arrival.

Default setting of brightness 50 crushes black and I could not go beyond 54 without ruining blacks. So re-adjusted the above settings. Much better and happy.

These are pics with old settings from Google Pixel XL.
