LG 2016 OLED Owner's Discussion

Is it possible to upload a higher resolution pic please?

Here it is. Though they say that this must be shot on a certain shutter speed, F-stop, etc, which is beyond me.

This is from an iPhone, don't know if there's any way I can augment the quality on the phone. Don't have any other camera.

It looks good. You may not be tracking but how many hours of usage on the set? I think in General settings there is an option to check the "on" time.

Hi Guys,

LG 55E6T seems to be out of stock everywhere in Bangalore. Any idea where it might be available? Ofcourse looking for a fresh set and not a display one. Thanks!

969 hours.

On another note, wanted to know if it's okay to download the latest firmware from LG US and install it on my B6T?

No way, don't try that as if there is any hardware differences inside region specific oleds, you don't want to risk it, may i ask why you want the US firmware? the indian one also has hdr game mode now.

Cheers.

Hi guys!

Has anyone availed of the extended warranty for the oled?

Vijay sales has offered me onsitego 2yrs for almost 13k

Lg officially is giving me 2yrs for over 60k

Is this onsite company reliable? I mean the values given are so far apart i dunno what to choose

Be Careful in reading the terms and conditions. Check if most common reasons are also covered like electric serge, thunderstorms which do not give prior ideas. Most of the warranties cover manufacturing defects only.
If the panel is covered, then you can go for it as no one can predict panel failure.

guys,

how do we use the dlna feature in this tv, is there a media player/app we have to get from the lg store that will let us play photos/videos from network?

Thanks.

I think its just that your TV should be connected to your network which has some file sharing on like the DLNA, UPNP etc., or even the workgroup in Windows PC. Once you are into the network automatically the shared files will show up on your TV.

The OLED will find your DLNA compatible equipment. In case your equipment is not DLNA compatible, at least for windows I know there's a software.

By the way, has ASBL kicked in for anyone?

guys,

I have noticed an issue with my 55b6, noticed this issue earlier also but thought it was my videocon d2h broadcast, the picture looks very pastel like the colors are patchy/washed out on the screen, happens on all inputs & even in the inbuilt amazon app, i got the picture back to normal by reseting the picture mode & also went to "picture test" where it asked me if the picture quality in the photo was good & i said yes & then the patchy/washed out colors went away & the print came back to normal. Wonder if anyone else has got this issue? is it a software bug or some hardware issue? i m paranoid & dunno what is the issue, Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks.

Haven't noticed anything like you described on 55E6. I have got a vertical streak almost at the middle of my display. Plus the left bottom corner is a shade lighter than rest of the screen. Setting up brightness properly is a problem with an uneven screen. Hope it settles after it gathers some hours.

Absolutely loving OLED. Hopeful that the minor problems will sort themselves over time.

do you leave your tv on standby all the time? also is your quick start option enabled or disabled? i think i notice these washed out effect after the tv 4hrs compensation cycle it does in standby.

Thanks.

I presume you have energy saving option turned, if its turned off, registering a complaint is better since its still under warranty.

Yes, always in standby mode and quick start is on.

Log a call with LG. Let the engineers check your TV.

oh k, i normaly kill the power at nights & also have quick start on off, i feel its software related as it goes away after i reset the picture mode to default, probally will reset the tv to initial settings & give it a try & see, will reseting to initial settings remove the hrs the panel is on, which is in about tv?

its turned to auto but will give a factory reset a change beofre giving lg a call. The issue is random & goes away with picture mode reset.
