:yahoo: So i have finally bought the LG 50PK550 R, i will keep you guys posted on every single detail from the moment it arrives, so that u can benefit from all this, final price was 64,800/- , will post high quality pics taken with my canon powershot SX20IS. Also any suggestions that you guys have or anything you want me to look for i am ready to listen and help with whatever i can.

Well i was on the edge about this set since they only had 1 piece in stock, but then i said what the heck and i pulled the trigger, i went to the godown in person to see the piece with my own eyes, so that i can be sure that it's not a display peice, i also asked the dealer why he only had 1 peice and he said that there storage is very less so they have limited stock and i saw it with my own eyes the storgae was very small so i was pretty much convinced that the reason is a good enough valid reason, so that led to my decision of buying it today.

I will be using this for gaming on PS3, for cable Tata Sky HD, for movies probably upscaled DVD's or Blu ray of very good Hollywood titles only.

UPDATE 1 7:34P.M. --> So it has arrived. First of all for all those who were asking about it's power consumption the input wattage written on the box is 480W, i am posting pics as well so u can see it for yourself.

Also i read in another thread where someone was asking whether this has a 5A plug or a 15A one, well i have had a look and the plug is a 5A one, and not the power plug one

Input Wattage Detail - Also I don't know if it is the same as it's consumption value but i am assuming that they are 1 and the same thing, but either way here is the pic

Bad News !! first of the customer service guys were making excuses for not able to come at 9 p.m in the night, but i didn't want to wait, so ultimately after a lot of exchange of words they finally came and they were very rude, so i also had to talk harshly with them, and when they opened the set to my horror the set is totally damaged the glass panel is cracked and the frame is also bent , it has been damaged in the transit, i tried calling the phone number of the dealer and it is switched off, i tried calling the shop and they have probably closed it for the day, they ruined my whole experience, i will have a talk with them tomorrow and update you what happens.

Related to what I was mentioning in this post, my friend's LG 42SL90 also turned out to be cracked when they opened the package. Luckily, the package was untouched by my friend and was opened by LG folks only. Otherwise they could have blamed it on him. Looks like the transport fellows have not yet graduated from CRTs to LCDs.

Mannu ,

Very Very Sorry to hear that mate..... First take pictures of the whole thing and send a mail to LG detaling everything .... just to be on safe side if dealer acts smart.. or something.....

Well i have taken the pics and also talked with the customer care and told them about what all had transpired, i am mailing the pics to them as well, just to be on the sae side, first impressions on the LG service are very disappointing, first of all the guys who were to install the piece called me that he cannot come, and said that he will come in the morning tomorrow, and when i told him that all are office going people and no one is going to be there in the morning that ensued into an argument, and a lot of hot exchanges between him and me, and then when he did come and opened it the piece was cracked with one of it's edge twisted badly, i will let you guys know what the dealer says tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this Mannu.Hopefully you will have a replacement without much hassles.
Other day some one mentioned Samsung Customer care is worst and LG's is very professional. Now this exp. clarifies us there is nothing like a professional Customer care in India. Its same with every brand, It all depends on individual we are dealing with and our fate on that day.

Hey Mannu,

Though whatever happened. No worries. Our all hearty welcome to the 550K club, buddy.
We are with you and wish to see the replaced plasma soon at your place.

Just dont give up so easily to such clumpsy service guys. Chase them to hell.

Good Luck Buddy. All be fine.

Thanks for all those kind words, and yes i won't let them get off easy, it's just that i bought this display because i wanted to watch the world cup on this, but now they have ruined it for me, and i thought dealing with LG atleast will be a better experience since i had heard good things about their customer service, but so far the experience has been very bad, lets see how it goes from here on, anyways that's what life is i guess, as soon as i get my hands on a new display and i am hoping for the best here, i will be uploading HD pics and videos to help you guys in making a good decision, that is why i am updating every single detail as and when it happens

UPDATE 3 --> well talked to the dealer today, at first he said that he will get the piece replaced in 10 days, so i gave him some nice peace of my mind to put him in the right place, had to tighten his screws, he thought he can take me for a ride, he later calls back and tells me that it will be available by evening, now i am just apprehensive about him giving me the display piece, i have told him that this time around i want him to open the damn box in front of me and i want to see it with my own eyes in perfect working condition, otherwise i am taking you to the consumer courts, and then i will see to it that you see the end of day. I will update with what transpires later in the day.

Thanks

Good luck Mannu. Don't leave them and you can also talk to LG regional manager to get better service.

Good Luck. Keep following with the dealer till evening. And check the piece at the showroom first and @ home also . Keep your hands away from the TV unless they show you a new peice @ your home totally working.

UPDATE 4 ->:yahoo: Finally have the replaced display exchanged and installed, well in the morning i called up the dealer and gave him a verbal bashing that he will not forget soon, they were so scared that they wanted to install the new display at that moment only, but i refused and told him that i will personally come and see the display for myself and then get it loaded before my eyes, so i went in the evening checked out the piece and thought that the piece was satisfactory, i saw that the ploy-bag in which remote and other stuff comes was already opened, this ensued into another argument with him there, and he said that he opened it to check that everything was in order, i had already bashed him up so much that i didn't wanna pursue the issue further, I had bought break in images on a USB and i watched those in the shop, did not see any defect in the display, it does not buzz at all, it was very quiet even when the image displayed was a full white screen, checked very closely for dead pixels or any dirt inside the glass panel, did not see any, the screws also looked new, there was a little uniformity problem with the screen at it's right edge, but i think i can live with that, it's barely noticeable, so i decided to take it home.

Coincidentally someone from LG also called at the same time when i was in the showroom, told him about what had transpired and how badly i was treated by these people yesterday and how frustrated i was with your service, subsequently he had a long chat with the dealer and then afterwards i told him exactly what I had to go through and how despicable the service provided was, he felt sorry and along with the new display sent two of his employees who came and unpacked the plasma for me, gave me a home demo, and took the broken plasma along with them.

So at around 7:30 today the new display got installed, it is extremely silent, i can hear my PC's hard disk running when it's turned on, so no buzz here, no dead pixels, and no flashing pixels, also no speck of dirt inside the panel, only issue it has is a uniformity issue, but i guess that's very negligible and i can live with that. i am adding some pics of the new setup and i will add more along the way. Feel free to ask anything, i am ready to help all you guys.

P.S --> I didn't know this before but got to know it today while talking to the dealer, he told me that LG has a 3 month return policy, and when you buy a product from LG they issue you a card which is valid for 3 months, and in case of any kind of damage inclding breaking, accidentally dropping, even if the diplay is in 2 pieces, or even if it has been stolen from your place within that 3 months from the date of purchase and a proper police report has been ensued LG will provide you with a brand new display piece, so if any of you guys run into trouble so keep this in the back of your mind and always ask for a new display, never go for the repair option.

Congrats Mannu. The TV looks very good aesthetically. Also it's nice one your part to update people within Forum on what's going on. Few people join forum take advice and leave forever.

Why don't you conceal that power supply cord somewhere. Can you take a picture with some material shown on TV along with lights switched on. Reason being I can see so much of reflection on it and wanted to see how much of still stays with a movie being played.
