LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LW6500 Owner's Thread

Friends, needed help here,

Yesterday i tried connecting 2.1 channel audio system(F&D A555U) to my LW5700 in AV IN 1 using RCA cables(Red and White for Right and Left channel), there is no audio coming from these except from the TV. However the system works perfectly as a stand alone player.

Question is:

1. Should I connect in another port(RCA) or
2. Should I use 3.5 mm jack cable to connect the audio system(If so, where is it in LW5700).

Please suggest,Anyone already using 2.1 channel speakers paired with this TV LW5700..Please tell me where should i hook up the RCA's.

I did not exactly understand what you are exactly trying to do and what you are expecting.

The RCA Red-White on TV is for audio input only. It does not output any sound. Does your audio system have AV-Out? As far as I understand (looking at the system and its cost), I think that this F&D A555U system does not have audio out.

So basically, you are connecting one audio-in to another audio-in. It is not going to work.

To connect the F&D A555U system to TV, the system must have dolby digital, DTS or PCM decoding capability. Then you can connect the TV to system by coaxial digital out. If that is not possible then connect as follows:

STB HDMI-Out ==> TV
STB AV-Out (Red-White RCA) ==> F&D A555U system Audio in.

Thanks just4kix, I tried this last Saturday as u mentioned and its working fine. i connected the Tatasky HD STB through RCA L&R audio to my 2.1 system and its perfect.

There is a 3.5 mm wire which can also be connected to my 2.1 system RCA (L&R), Is this possible in our LG 3D TV, as i could not find any 3.5 mm jack and also since my TV is wall mounted, its hard to fully see the jacks.

Can you tell me if we have the jack, if yes Where .... Thanks in advance!

I don't have idea about the 3.5 mm jack. What does the jack for? Is there any name printed at the jack? Post a picture.

Subsequent to the above post, the 3.5 mm jack is mainly for headphones out, unless specified otherwise. If so, it cannot be used as audio-in.

3.5 jack can be used as audio out from the tv to the home theater through a cable which has 3.5 jack at one end and rca cable at other , however the intensity of 3.5 jack is very low, and hence sound from HT will be low, hence not recommended... Check if your HT has optical audio in, if yes optical audio out from tv can be taken to HT..

Thanks Sandesh1978,U got it right...I needed the 3.5 jack to connect my 2.1 ch output using 3.5 jack & rca combined cable(which comes with the 2.1 HT, There is no optical audio in available for the model mentioned.

If anyone knows , please tell me where is the 3.5 mm jack behind the TV as its wall mounted I really could not guess. Sorry my manual is missing :o

Can anyone check if the latest Verizon FIOS app works on their LW5700 or LW5600 TV. I have the latest 05.00.04 firmware and it doesn't appear in the list of apps on the TV and says "'FiOS TV' cannot be played on your device" when I try downloading it from the website here ::: LG Apps TV :::

How is everyone finding the 3D on LG's passive 3D cinema tv's?

I have the 42LW5700 and 3D is a real hit and miss. After a year or so of testing and reading forums I think either the LG or all passive 3D is a bit of a risk.

It started with people posting great 3D films they had watched at home. Everytime I hired the movie it would be a disappointment.

This post was longer but half my text just got erased. So how is everyone feeling about the 3D on the LG passive 3D tv series

Hi Noober, every person has a different ability to process 3D images - some humans do it very well, while some have a miserable time. It is just in the different way our brains are wired - it is not a disability or something. So, even with the top of the line LG passive 3D TV, you may not really enjoy watching in 3D - while your friend may love it! Personally, I have a LG LM Series 3D TV - and I like watching an occasional 3D movie on it. I avoided an active 3D TV since I was very uncomfortable with the associated flicker - plus I wear specs so shutter glasses were not possible for me.

Also the novelty of 3d diminishes after a certain period of time, so the 3d that you loved watching feels okay after a certain period of time as you get used to it. Also, most of the 3d movies these days are just crap (i.e the 3d is crap for watching at home). Movies like Avatar (depth) and Sammy's adventure (for pop out effects) still makes your 3dtv feel valuable though ;).

I personally prefer passive as it has a lot of advantages over active. Plus 2d to 3d conversion in LG tvs is just the best. It's awesome watching movies and sports in 3D :)

While playing 3D-SBS movies, if you increase zoom (i.e.: 20%), the 3D effect is also zoomed ...

Bye
