LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LW6500 Owner's Thread

I did do a store demo, but don't recollect the screen size. It was not with my usual demo materials. I did feel the 7600 being no better than 6700. To me LG's 2012 LM series have serious issues with motion and detailing. Something very hard to pardon as Samsung and Sony offer much better pictures. I checked all 3 side by side in stores. LG was the weakest even in dynamic mode showing a poor contrast range.

My recommendation is Sony HX850. Am sure the prices are close. What size are you looking for?

Do check out for yourself. If you are satisfied then make the purchase. A warning though. LM series looks are hard to resist. Some may buy just for that alone.

Thanks Shaiju.

But the problem with Sony is that it does not play MKV file formats,as most of my d/l's are in this format. What is the use when it does not suit my purpose. However, I do agree it is a very good tv with a class of its own.

Do you agree with Panasonic models 2012 line up.. any suggestions?

Okay. To sacrifice the Sony for not able to play a particular format is a bit too harsh :) Although it is your choice. I have never been a fan of such external playbacks. I am dumb as a stick in this case. If it is prime then look for media player or even a good bluray player that will do the job.

My demo of Panasonic 55" ET5 was satisfying. It can challenge the LG and even better in some terms except the looks.

Please do not dumb a TV as it does not support a file format. The core business of a TV is display and sound which it does. For different format support and all just get a media player the bare minimum one asus o play min for around 3 to 4k.

Thanks

Most of the tv which are able to play mkv still can't play all mkv files cause..
1.Video bitrate more than 20mbps not supported.
2.The embedded video codec used in mkv file is AVC..in that if x264 encoder the reframe no is greater than 5 the mkv won't play and only wayout is to reencode the whole video which may take more than a day with 100% cpu usage.

And there is a way to play mkv in bravia..http://www.hifivision.com/television/26438-how-play-mkv-file-sony-bravia-led-tv-guide.html

Just a query,

Planning to buy a Onkyo 3500 5.1 for my LW5700. I hope the TV is ARC enabled to play 5.1 using my AVR.

If Yes, can you tell me how many / which HDMI ports in there are ARC enabled...Any answers...Also I know HDMI 1.4 version are ARC feasible , but i am not sure as to which port is ARC specific out of the 4 HDMI ports in the TV.

This is mainly to play 5.1's stuff using pen drive.

I dont know its picture quality is better than sony tv at this price....but this tv is value for money with 8/10 2D quality and passive 3D its the best tech in this world right now better than samsung and sony...no eyestrain ,crosstalk...just real 3D:)

one thing i dont like is it has a matte finish...due to which pic is bright in dark but in bright room i have no problems

Hey... I have been having an issue and calling the LG guys has not been useful... They say this is the 1st time such a complaint has come... So am wondering whether the issue is only on my TV... Now here is the issue If i play play a 3d or a 2d movie i am not able to view it in full screen... The black strips are there on the top and bottom... Even if I select to view it in full screen there is no change... In 2d if I just play around with switching 3d on and convert that to 2d and then back to normal i get it in full screen... This does not work all the time... It is really annoying not being able to view 3d full screen...The videos are full HD... Any suggestions...

Why so many dots (...)? :)

If the movie is in 2.35:1 ratio, the black bars on top and bottom are to be expected. If you change the aspect ratio to one of the zoom settings, the picture will be cropped and then zoomed. But here too, the black bars may not entirely disappear for every movie.

Are you saying that in spite of changing the aspect ratio, the TV does not change it? Sometimes a BDP picture setting does not allow aspect ratio to be changed when playing via HDMI. This happens with my projector. No matter what AR I set on the projector, the HDMI picture does not change. If I switch to Component or Composite input, I am able to change the aspect ratio.

The dots have become a habit :P
I thought the full screen mode would atleast stretch the video. Well, do i have any option other than resizing the videos?

I do not have any issue of changing aspect ratio on my TV. The black bars do disappear but not entirely. Depends upon the origial letter box picture.
