The Simplink button allows you to control your other devices like DVD player from one remote, when they are connected to the TV. I think the other peripherals also need to be LG products.
Dunno about the hdd recorder.

Although I've not got my network setting done with my LCD so not able to update firmware but I realised that PQ is getting improved with the usages. I've completed abt 90Hrs so far and I'm getting excellent black level this time. I'm really falling in love with this display panel whenever I'm watching any movie on this. I must admire two things of the panel one is the Pic quality, the details of pic , black level are just awsome. THe secont thing is the upscaling capabilities are just superb. Right now I've old TataSky sd stb but the PQ of very much like HD from a distance of 5-6feet on this 47inch panel. Except some aac and dtc audio codec issue I dont seen any problem with this panel. I still have to explore the network capabilities of this beauty. I'll keep updating on this.

Whenever I watch any ch with fast moving camera shot specially cricket, I notice dark bars in the background ie green field or blue sky. Anybody noticed such issue with 47'. It may be signal problem or with tv processing

yep the LG doesn't play DTS audio as they have not paid the licence fee for that.:licklips::licklips:

Surprisingly the LG budget Bluray player(bd 550) support all audio including DD HD and DTS HD also.

I dont see any. May be some problem with your set. Its better contact with LG cust care and ask them to resolve.

Called the LG customer care and had the TV inspected. The technician agreed that there is a problem. He then contacted somebody senior who then asked him to reset the TV to factory settings and then check

On another note the firmware version is 03.04.17. @ajaykatoch mentioned that there is a update available. Maybe this new update solve the issue.

I've the older Firmware as didn't get a chance to setup the Network connection for TV.
Guys if possible try to post the image of black bars that you see on screen.

I have this issue with HDMI on airtel HD . THe vertical bars are very faint and one can notice only if one look for them. As soon as the horizontal movement of camera stops these dark bars disappear. Kindly post if you get any solution.

I have got my 42" LD 650 installed this week and when i connect to my sony DVD player i hear a sound whenever the blue screen appears is there any problem in the TV settings? Iam using STD picture setting.
I am getting this sound only when the blue screen appears from the SONY welcome screen.

hi lg tech. visited my place, looked at the picture quality and surf few ch and then told me that these background bars are due to camera movement and there is no defect and also reset the settings to factory . Perfection is hard to achieve and i understand that i was asking too much from lg.
Ha ha ! Here we can't expect much ! If it was in the developed country LG would have to go for a re-call due to strict regulation

Did you try the DVD play on other TV or my just connect it's audio to any other audio device and see if any sound is coming there. If you get the sound means some issue with DVD player else need to check some setting of TV.
