Hi Folks,

I own 32LD650, i have connected this with dish TruHD and desktop with HDMI cables, Picture quality is really good except there is small backlight bleeding (will call LG service guys to see what they have to say about this).

I came across this site openlgtv.org.ru • View topic - OpenLGTV BCM - firmware for Broadcom based TV models with OpenLGTV firmware which provides additional functionalities like more netcast services, browsing web using USB mouse and keyboard. Has anyone tried this custom firmware on TV?

Regards,
Ak

Hi,
I am in a fix. As all owners of LD650, I also bought the 47 inches after a lot of research and consideration, in Nov'10. But, last month, the panel was displaying vertical lines, and some of the lines would move as well from left to right. I complained to the LG customer care. The engineer came after a lot of reminding. He immediately said that the panel would need to be replaced. On inquiring about the cost, he said approx. 40K. Now, that was a shocker. I said - only a fool would replace at that cost. Then he opened the set. He looked at the connectors. There were some black 'carbon' deposits. He gave some hope that maybe - changing the connector cable may solve the problem. He came back with new set of connector cable (which connects the LCD panel with the IC circuit board) after two weeks, as they were supposedly not available. But replacing the cables did not help. Has anyone experienced any such thing? Pls. suggest what to do? I love my 47LD650. Many thanks in advance.

My 42" LD650 has developed a strange problem, in that it goes on and off by itself. It goes away after a while, after re-inserting power cords, changing HDMI ports. I have changed the power cords and HDMI cords, but the problem does not seem to go away. Sometimes it simply reboots when pressing any button on the remote. Any leads would be highly appreciated.

Edit: Problem is narrowed down now to defect in HDMI ports (all 3). All of a sudden, the HDMI ports simply won't work; Component works fine. Guys, is this an easy problem to fix? Or is the solution expensive?

Guys, the service guy came today. He opened up the LCD TV, made sure all the ribbon cables are tight (opened them first and reattached them) and voila the problem was gone. It was due to a loose cable.

However, I was able to figure out 3 issues with my set up:

1) One of my el-chepo HDMI cables is gone kaput.

2) Further, the HDMI port of my HTPC has stopped working  I initially hoped it would be a windows 7 driver issue, but there is no display even at the BIOS. Has anyone encountered problems on their motherboards with HDMI only not working (VGA and DVI-D are working fine).

3) The built quality of the LD650 is very poor. When one opens up the TV case, one can make out that the motherboard, cable connectors, everything is of very poor quality. Disappointed with looking at the flimsiness of everything there.
