Logitech Media Server (LMS) - Users Thread

I am new to Raspberry PI, familiar with LMS
I am planning to setup raspberry pi based player for LMS, with Picoreplayer + LMS.

Suggest me which RPI should I purchase, for following requirement ?
  • Can boot from USB Pen Drive. (Heard stories of SD card failures, hence pen drive)
  • USB DAC connect to RPI.
  • USB External 2.5 inch HDD connect to RPI. ( No NAS at premise ).
  • RPI should connect to WiFi (5 Ghz preferred).
Rpi4 would be ideal but availability is an issue

Thank you. Will await your screenshot. Not being able to browse using folder structure is a deal breaker for me.
My collection is 1.8 Terrabyte. mpd does that in less than 5 minutes. But it could be because mpd doesn't fetch things like album art, etc. It just creates a db with tags limited to artist, album, title, file creation time, track, genre, date, composer, performer, disc.
I was trying out LMS with max2play the other day. At least 3 Android clients can browse and play through folders - Squeeze Controller , Squeezer (both free) and Orange Squeeze (paid)

Pcp with LMS is ahead of moode, volumio when it comes to plugins and ease of use, once properly setup with material skin. Tidal connect is native and the info plug-ins are great too. Hard to go back to Moode. But I miss the Camilla dsp in moode as its hard to live without its PEQ/dsp features. Anyone implemented Camilla DSP in Picore? Seems complicated to me to install from the online guides. With the DSP, pcp would be the ultimate package.

New name : Lyrion Music Server
I am trying to install this on a windows server which is connected to my Hegel streaming amplifier. I want to be able to stream my home library along with other streaming apps and use the whole home audio features. I believe this is a great streaming application.

I have been successful in getting the LMS server to work, add music etc. But not able to get the player to work. I downloaded the Squeezelite-X which is available from the MS app Store and is supposed to be a ready software player but that doesn't work. Discovers the server but just says "aborted". There are no guides that I could find to fix this issue.

Also tried the squeezelite player. Downloaded from the source hub but the executable file doesn't even open. Can't see it in the programs.

The Android based controller will be the next step if I get this working.

Has any one tried this and has any learnings to share? Many thanks in advance!!!

Are there any clues in the LMS server logs? You can see those by going to the Information tab in lms settings and scrolling down. There's a link for logs

If you are running the server and player on the same machine, then lms comes with some plug-ins for local player. Check the plug-ins tab in settings.

Thanks. Will check the logs and report back. I wasn't able to figure out how to see the logs last time.

Thanks much. Will check again. I couldn't see any when I went through a few times. Do you know why other players that are available as plug ins?

squeezelite is command line player, it does not have GUI of it's own. You will require to use web UI of LMS which is by default available.

You need to open command line and type command to use squeezelite: squeezelite.exe -s <server ip address> -o default -n <player name>
This how I use on my windows laptop
LMS Server is installed on: 192.168.50.4
To start squeezelite: squeezelite.exe -s 192.168.50.4 -o default -n "Atlantis"
Open chrome browser and open 192.168.50.4:9001 you will see "Atlantis" player. now you can play song from web UI and it will play on windows laptop.

I used to use it in a Raspberry Pi setup. It worked very well. LMS+Squeezelite (picoreplayer). Just for my info, any reason you are looking at an Android based controller?
