Looking for help on a new HT system

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new HT system for the home. Considering 3 brands - Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo. I am an amateur in this, hence looking for professional guidance on what should be a good buy. My budget is ~ INR 30 - 40K. I already have the LED TV with DTH set up but the sound quality is pretty basic. I need to connect the TV, DTH, DVD Player and IPOD to the system. The room is size 17*10 ft. TV viewing distance is ~ 16 ft. The models that I looked up online are:

Yamaha - YHT 299,
Onkyo - HT-S 3400/3500
Denon - DHT E251BA (not sure if this is available in India in a store).

Appreciate all the guidance that I can get. Also, where in Delhi can I get a demo for the 3 brands so I can compare sound output.

Hi...The particular Denon brand seems to be discontinued. Also, I couldn't get a demo of denon in any store. Don't know if any store in Delhi stocks it. Is there any store that you know? I did have a demo of Onkyo S 3500 and S 5600. While 3500 was good, 5600 was way better (of course with 7.1 it helps).

I doo see a lot of views and only one reply. I would appreciate more replies / views from the group. It would be good to have professional views before I make the purchase.

There are threads / post related to Home Theatres....a search on the same would yield some information. Alternatively most of us have replied to similar posts...you can click on our user names to see related posts.

Yamaha / Pioneer / Onkyo have entry level Home Theatre systems which fits the budget for those who want to own their first Home Theatre, something that will perform and provide a good value for money....the Home Theatre range can start from 25k onwards and reach almost 7-8 lakhs....the more higher you pay, the more quality and features you get.....ofcourse the durability also kicks in....

You may want to try to visit Pro FX who sell the Denon X500 with Polk RM 6750 package..around 50k odd I guess but it is worth a demo.......

Some are brand conscious, some want performance, some want quality and some want all 3....it all depends on what you want to spend and what appeals to you....all the best..
