Hello All,

I have a doubt, Is Marantz MCR603 that good, Its highly rated by everyone at whathifi.com. Is it a good system or will a combo of cd and amp beat the hell out of it. From what I heard it can even stand up to the combo of MarantzPM6004 and CD6004. what are your thoughts. Does anyone own it

I have not heard it but have a feeling that separates will beat this all in one solution. They will have separate power supply, less interference etc , etc. Separates are specialists

I would compare the situation to MBBS vs MD medicine vs ICU specialist
A common cold can be treated by all. If it progresses and complicates to pneumonia , MBBS may not but MD med and intensivist will treat it. If it further complicates and needs ventilator support, only intensivist is trained well to handle the situation.

So it depends upon what is the use and what speakers it will be paired with.

Of course these are just my thoughts. I have never used all in one solutions of reputed companies. have heard an Onkyo system once (CD player+amp in a box). did not impress me at all.

Even I thought the same. But considering that even a descent entry level hifi separate system costs more than this, I really dont know. However the people at whatfhifi swears by this. Wonder why it is not so popular here in India,After all its a Maranz :)

My first experience with a Marantz was very much positive, But then I heard somewhere that Marantz was not serviceable in Hyderabad & mostly troublesome finding solutions in India even, thats the main reason that made me back out of buying one.!!!
