My New Technics TT!

Nowadays I've often experienced that most of the forum members or TT users have turned as businessmen. I think, this is the reason why new vinyl lovers keep away from the real music world.. All vinyl experts pl guide new comers, don't be a nightmare to them!

Friends,

I need one Garrad 301 or 401 TT with good condition. Pl PM..

You can't really get these in India anymore as either the condition is beyond repair or the price would be the equivalent to a car.

The best option is to import. If you look carefully, you can get pristine decks for considerably less than what you'd pay in the Indian market.

This is not really the case. Yes, some of our forum members sell records for Rs.1000 or Rs. 500 a piece but remember, most of them are only trying to recover their investment. For equipment, one has to keep in mind the cost of accquisition and servicing/repair as well. I have known forum members to pay a bomb for equipment and when they put it up for sale on the forum, they keep reducing the price to un-imagine levels, just to let another forum member buy. They may have the opportunity to sell these outside the forum for much more but they still dont. In the recent past one of our forum members even offered installments on an expensive Accuphase amplifier to enable another forum member to buy it and enjoy it. I am not sure about other forums but there are some real enthusiasts out here.

From my experience, all those who contribute to the Phono Turntables section of this forum have only encouraged others to get into vinyl. Those who sell commercially, never hide the fact that they are into the business side as well. Even these guys who are into business, conduct themselves quite ethically. I have only had pleasant experiences when dealing with them.

If you have a bad or unpleasant experience that you've encountered, why not share it with all. It could be an eye opener for us as well.

+1 to Reuben. This forum is made up of a different kind of people...many of them. Be it knowledge sharing or even equipments/ spares etc.

Knowledge sharing is something that we should appreciate. Someone has spent time, money and has taken up considerable amount of observation to base his knowledge on. Sharing it in a second with others for free is not everyone would indulge into.

I myself was a noob when it came to good turntables and I had never experienced anything more than a basic HMV or a Philips. Had 'heard' about the Garrards though. :) But talking, asking noobish questions to senior members here & reading posts of members like Reuben, Kuruvila sir, Hiten, Sachin, Omishra and a lot of other people helped me. I got my first real TT which could play some serious music based on the knowledge provided by this forum.
In fact, when I was restoring my TT, Hiten sent me the spares for the TT that I was not able to find anywhere. Just a peek at the giveaway section makes me feel that people have hearts to give away stuff that they can actually sell for good money.

Not to boast of it, but overwhelmed by these gestures, I also try to help people, if I can.

Regards,
Saket
