Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:)

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

The more I use netflix the more I love this. Sure it doesn't have the latest episodes or even all the major shows, but there's so much good stuff available and in better PQ & SQ than your average dth HD channels, there's no way I'm ever going to be short for content in this lifetime. Just the fact that there's no ads and especially no unnecessary censoring is worth the cost to me. Everything else is a bonus.

Not even bothering with anything on tv at home anymore. Just need to get the office broadband upgraded and I simply won't need tatasky anymore.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

another DNS service which is still in beta(free/allows to choose regions) gives good speeds https://unlocator.com/
also, has anyone manage to get superhd? I'm stuck with Android stick which only does 480p :indifferent14: does apple tv sold in India lets you to install netflix app?? any other alternatives? Roku doesn't work for Sweden which is The region for movies.
Just tried it with my ps3. 1080p within a couple of minutes. Thanks for the heads up. Will use it until its free. :)

Hi ALL ,

Looks like gopichand has again joined the Netflix bandwagon ..... so we are all up again with 4 members .......

welcome back gopi and hope this time you stay around .....

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Good to see another member join the club :)

Currently watching stargate SG-1. Watched the movie on netflix first and liked it quite a bit. But found out the tv series is no longer available. But turns out netflix canada still has the tv series. So watching it there now!

Also tried Chennai Express on netflix. Had it recorded in tatasky HD as well and the projector was on so decided to do a back to back comparison of PQ. Netflix' 1080p made the zee tv HD version look like sd! And ofcourse there's no huge channel logo and ads every 15 minutes. I can't say it enough, netflix is so so awesome and so much worth the price even if I wasn't sharing the account and paying the full 750 a month :)

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

I watch netflix using my smart tv app and android HDMI dongle. Both of them do not support change of profiles. They take me directly to Sam's profile as netflix account was created by him. He has kindly agreed to use his profile till profile support comes to android or smart tv.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Got my office internet upgraded to 8mbps today :yahoo: and am looking for a netflix streaming box now. Not sure which one to go with. Don't really need superhd or even HD there as the tv is 19" LCD to begin with. Also the lower the resolution, the longer I'll go without reaching the FUP limit.

Only requirement is a decent fast interface for both netflix and youtube and a decent enough remote control (preferably bluetooth/RF instead of IR). Would have gone for chromecast as it's the cheapest (and most compact) option and has very nice interface for youtube (from what I've heard) but the inability to use it in India for netflix killed that choice for me.

Next up is the three $100 boxes, ie roku, wdtv live and Apple TV. Roku looks like the best of the three especially that RF remote with built in headphone jack. Wdtv live has already been recommended by sam here. Apple TV also seems like a good choice too so not really sure which one to go with. Also a little pissed that all these boxes cost more than ?6500. Is there anything cheaper I can use here? If not, which of the three box should I go for?

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Quad core Android dongles are available these days. The problem is, there is no profile support yet and I am automatically logged in to Sam's profile. If you get this dongle before profile support comes to android, we all will be logging into Sam's profile and will be disturbing each others list.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

^this is what I use, Netflix 3.0 android app is snappier and sportsdevil on XBMC for cricket/footbal streaming on the go.

Amazon.com: Bluetooth MK808B Dual Core Android 4.1 TV BOX Rockchip RK3066 Cortex-A9 Mini PC Smart TV Stick: Electronics

thrown in a wireless mouse, you should be all set. with custom roms you could even use xbox controller.

Looks like a decent box. Especially with that max go app which you won't find on any of the streaming boxes yet. But yes, like gopi said, profile support is absolutely necessary. Maybe I'll wait a bit to see if that feature comes to android anytime soon. I already have an ipad I can use for netflix for the time being.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

^oh never knew you guys were sharing an netflix account. with android box, you also get host of free network apps like iPlayer/Crackle/CBS so its still worth an investment if you could source it cheap.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Netflix and youtube performance are the only main requirements. Do you get full HD on netflix with this android box?

Also, have tried iplayer, CBS, NBC, abc, crackle and a bunch of other similar apps on iPad but found them pretty useless. All of them, except iplayer, were full of ads which you can't skip and quality of video ranged from poor to downright crap. I doubt the performance will be any better on android. iPlayer was the only one without ads, has excellent PQ and even has the ability to download shows (sd and HD both) on ipad (probably android too) but couldn't really find anything interesting to watch there. So all these extra apps don't really matter much for me personally. Netflix has enough good quality content to keep me busy for a lifetime and then some. :)

And slightly off topic but then there's the issue of morality with these free apps (nbc, abc etc). These are ad based services which are meant for us citizens and watching these ads here in India is useless for advertisers. Or like iplayer where it's already paid for by uk citizens. Watching these videos is no better than torrenting them. Probably even worse as unlike torrents, I'm now burdening their servers (which cost real money) every time I use these services.

Netflix on the other hand is charging for access to these videos and doesn't rely on any sort of ads. Accessing US netflix in India may not be legally correct but I consider it fine morally. It doesn't matter who's watching netflix and where from as long as I'm paying for the service. Even sharing of accounts is allowed by netflix. It's meant for family but they know friends share their accounts too. They have a limit of four streams max at a time so there's no way to abuse the sharing process.

I've been mostly piracy free for years now and with netflix and itunes music, I can claim to be 100% piracy free. If for nothing else then to prove the point that people are willing to pay for content as long as its reasonably priced and easy to access. :)

The device I use is MK809ii. I get only 720p and stereo audio. My smart tv app supports full hd and 5.1. So I use smart tv app for netflix.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Guys, I just my Android TV a week ago. Forget Dual core 1GG stuff which pants at 720p and cannot do 1080p. This Minix Neo X7 is a beast :

2. 2GB Ram/16GB Rom , plays at 1080p

5. Made for XBC - Dedicated XBMC builds soon. Has Open-VPN driver in built.
6. Supports Wifi Air mouse and keyboad
7. Amazing firmware suport from the company and a dedicated user forum MINIX Forums - Unofficial

You can buy it for $134 at DealeXtreme - Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - DX Free Shipping Worldwide and Buy Cheap & New Electronics Online From China Electronics Store - GeekBuying .
Please keep away from cheaper deals on E-bay. There are loads of Fake Minix boxes, who try to sell at half or one third - dont fall for them.

Folks in Bangalore can audition it at my crib in Koramangla. Just drop a small PM.

Re: Netflix, my experience...amazing service!!! can be accessed from INDIA as well..:

Got a quick question on free VPN service for Netflix.
I have a Belkin b/g modem and Smart TV LG LM7600 which has Netflix apps.

Can you set DNS for TV seperately and DNS for regular laptop and phone int he router itself.

Can the router use multiple DNS or should I use a second router for TV with US DNS.

Looking for the best way to get Netflix.

Check your TV manual to see if you can set DNS manually on your TV. If your TV supports manual DNS configuration, then you can set DNS on TV to watch netflix and all other devices will use DNS set by your ISP.

I wouldn't spend more than 40$ on an android box since most of the devices are hit and miss. The reason I suggested mk808 is that h/w is lot more mature with huge community driven firmware development and rockchip have even released the 3066 kernal sources so now you could even port a fully blown ubuntu on it :)

No need for another router. You can find instructions for your tv here...
https://support.unlocator.com/customer/portal/articles/1094584-how-to-setup-lg-tv-and-players

That's for unlocator.com which is currently free and in beta. Works fine for netflix (including super HD in ps3). If this doesn't work, you can try unblock-us or unotelly. Both paid services but you'll get a demo for one week before you're required to pay.

Also, don't put the DNS in your router as that'll make the rest of the internet a bit slower than what it should be (due to extra step involved with a DNS server). Just add the DNS settings directly into devices you want to use with netflix.
