New TV purchase and Hands-on experience with LG 55-inch LM8600!

This one video took a lot of time to finish so don't expect a second one so soon. I have calibrated the TV's picture settings after scouring various forums and I like the visuals that I have seen till now on the TV. And I will give you this much, the sound is pretty much passable so I will look at installing an HT setup as soon as my budget allows.
A bit of bleeding around the left edge but nothing significant to annoy me..
Review need not be a YouTube video. Text will do fine. :ohyeah: :)

Congrats on your purchase. Yeah it is a great TV. I demoed this one before purchasing the 47"lm6200. This one was way beyond my budget.

Madhur, can you take a pic with a blu-ray next to the TV so that we can get a better idea of the actual size/scale of the TV?

Thanks a lot and yeah thats right LM8600 is far expensive and way advanced as compared to LM6200. Anyways how is your experience with your model in terms of gaming, Have you noticed any lagging or something like that since your TV doesn't have a dual core processor, so how about your gaming experience?

Nice review.. seems you have become professional reviewer. Review quality shows your dedication in tech...thanks.

This is some interesting information - how exactly did you calibrate your LG LM8600? And of course you will need a good HTS, you cannot expect powerful enough speakers in so thin a TV!

Played Kinect enabled xbox game gunstringer. I was just blown away by the image and graphic content in this TV along with the 5.1 surround sound it was terrific. I think gaming would be awesome in your's. Invest in a good HT setup. Also your review was excellent.

Hey guys - just registered... Looks like a useful forum ;)

Need your views. I have been quoted heavily discounted Rs. 1,65,500 for the LG LM8600 and 1.88L for the LG LM9600 . Ofcourse the LM9600 looks ground breaking and all on paper - with the full array LED and stuff - but the bad Cnet review and that thread over at AVSforum where owners are reporting very obvious vertical banding and motion blurring makes me think... perhaps LG8600 is a safer bet...or should I still go for the paper tiger?

Are these in 47"? You should not go purely on reviews (though they are not entirely wrong). Similarly, paper specs also should not be believed blindly. Do a visual test yourself. The offer prices are indeed very good. Do verify that these are for fresh warehouse pieces and not those on display.

Prices are for 55". There are no display pieces for the 55" unfortunately and I could only get to see the 42" LM7600 in the showroom and it looked very good ofcourse. Will get the 55" LM8600/9600 series only upon order it seems. Might have to check in some other places if I can demo those. In 'LG showroom'(hyd) they quoted 1.67L best for 55" LM8600 and TMC hyderabad quoted 1.65L after I basically sucked on the sales team's blood lol. The discounted prices have fallen drastically in the first week of March 2013 apparently although the MRP is more or less the same as last month. For now I am thinking of the LM 8600 although full-array LED in the 9600 will feel nice psychologically and I can always kid myself that it is made to give better pictures inspite of the bad reviews(or not).

I would recommend you to take a demo of all the brands like Sony, Samsung and then make the final decision depending on your observation..These reviews on tech sites can be tested to a particular level i believe...

Note: I have a 55LM8600

Thanks for your appreciation mate, but it's nothing like that; its just because I searched a lot before buying and now I want to share my research and experience with many other geeks here and with all who are new on the forum.

Thanks a lot and it took me a while to settle down with all the required settings after discussing on a couple of technical forums similar to this one on the web. And majorly I focused on review videos and other online search channels to figure out the best possible outcomes, and as of now Im pretty satisfied with what Im getting from my screen.

Thanks for sharing your experience and Id definitely try the one you suggested. And yeah gaming is just a really fun on this screen though, I havent tried too often but still having a great experience with this smart tv in all respects. Sure its also in my line to buy anytime a good HT setup, but a bit short-handed at this time because had to spend a lot on the TV, if you know what I mean!

Welcome on board mate!

Im amazed after going through your post, I wish Id have bought mine in march at this dramatically awesome deal! Anyways I cant go in the past and changed the things as per my wish. For your concern Id say just grab the deal without any further perplexity and as far as vertical banding or so is concerned then personally I havent seen any bending however, in the very beginning I have seen a short light bleeding at the corner of my screen but after calibrating it thoroughly it was barely visible.

Feature wise LM9600 and LM8600 are identical, the only difference you find in two is in their LED lighting. LG has incorporated nano LED in LM9600 whereas, LM8600 is built-up by using LED Plus technology. Furthermore, today I found a link to LG ongoing offer on its LED TVs LG Great Home Theatre Combo Offers. Im pretty sure youll be glad with your purchase afterwards.

Lastly Id highly recommend you to try out some bigger electronics stores in your area such as Croma, Jumbo electronic or Reliance Digital where you can get to see the LM8600 on display for demo purpose. For any further assistance be in sync on such boards as these are truly helpful IMO.

Proud new owner of 55LM8600!!

Finally after a lot of research and comparing from all possible aspects with different brands, I decided to go with LG 55-inch LM8600 and bought one last week itself. Was a tough one between this and HX850 but the overall rounded features of this TV tilted the scales in LM8600's favor!

Items I got inside the box:

1. 4 3d glasses and 2 dual pay glasses.
2. 55-inch TV screen and its stand.
3. One conventional remote and One magic motion remote.
4 User manual guide.
5. AV cable and cable connectors.

I have installed this TV in my living room and have been using it for a few days. And I have decided to make a first hands-on experience video which I will upload and share it on the forum very soon. Damn excited to explore my new beast since its the biggest TV I have ever used in my house:yahoo:!
Congratulations for such a wonderful purchase! Id appreciate for initiating such an informative thread! And of course nice review loved watching your video.

Ya man - I agree...That's how electronics prices are - aren't they. They might reduce further once the 2013 models come - but am I going to wait - no way. We make the deal that sounds good at that moment :)
Having said that in one of the showrooms(TMC) the guy did not get to the elevl of discounts till I was leaving the showroom - these sales guys dont disclose the discounts until the customer leaves.. looks like. Although the 'LG showroom' guy came down to the discounted price pretty quick. From what I hear - they have stocks that they have to clear before the newer 2013 models come in.

I would have gone for the 9600; especially considering LG doesnt have any plans of making any other full array LEDs for 2013 - so this could be an exclusive group. But the Cnet review and the AVSforum has got me wondering - which is why I am looking at the LM8600. Price wise its 23k difference with the 8600 which is fine, but who wants to pay more and take home a hassle(especially when the reviews have casts doubts and I might be looking for those on the screen lol).

Considering that the MRP of 55LM9600 is 3 lacs, you seem to have gotten a very good deal! Plus, the price difference with LM8600 is not much (which again is a good deal in itself), so I would be quite very tempted to take it up!

Guys am getting the lg lm8600 for 1.46. However now after reading reviews there seem to be a lot of problems with the set. Like heating, dimming, ghosting etc. can anyone comment on this, especially indian11. You have now been using the tv for over 6 months. What's your opinion ? Should I go for the lg or better be happy with a Sony hx750?
