Norge Audio

It's really a nice article. Quite inspiring!
When I met Mr Shyam Bajaj, I felt that 'spark' in him, which is still going strong. I wish I had that courage to go against everyone's wish to pursue my own dreams.

Mr Bajaj is an absolute gentleman. It was a time well spent in his "workshop".

I am also a new owner of the Norge 1000 Gold and being a DIYer since the last 10 years really respect the great work of Mr. Bajaj. The audio quality is awesome at this price, great THD figures and power output. The only gripe is in the looks front a 5mm thick brushed aluminum front panel as well as power coating of the connector plate & black heatsinks would look great.

Audiodoc, can you tell me what is the power output of this amplifier @ 6 ohms & 8 ohms respectively?

Also as a DIYer have you opened the cabinet of the 1000 & found out the power & op amps used? Or the VA rating of the transformer?

Anybody's help including yours regarding this will be highly appreciated.

100+100W RMS into 8 Ohms And 125+125W into 4 Ohms. Thanks to a capable heat sink it doesn't even warm as much as my Denon AVR. A big toroidal transformer provides the required juice. Due to a very low THD <0.04 its dead silent (No Hiss). Practically anything below 0.1 is inaudible. It controls the Kevlar woofers of my Wharfedale 10.1s with all the control needed for tight and authoritative bass lines.

Its less than a week old so let me enjoy it for sometime before getting getting my screwdriver.

100 wpc @ 8 ohms at this size looks impossible.

What are the other parameters? Rated at Both Channels / One Channel? Driven at at what 1khz or full spectrum 20-20khz?

Norge 1000 GOLD

Power Output

@ 4ohms --> 125 X 2 watts
@ 6ohms --> 84 X 2 watts
@ 8ohms --> 75 X 2 watts

Is my guess right?:rolleyes:

I am not sure though.

100+100W INTO 8 OHMS

No details about whether it is at 1Kz or Full Spectrum

CHECK

AND IT IS NOT IMPORTANT TO HAVE BIG BOXES TO GENERATE THAT MUCH POWER OUTPUT IN THESE DAYS

YOU CAN GET SINGLE CHIP BURR BROWN INTEGRATED CIRCUITS WHICH WILL GIVE YOU THAT SORT OF OUTPUT.

I fully agree with you guys that Mr Bajaj is an inspiration for all music enthusiasts. I hv purchased over a dozen and a half of NORGE amps to pair with my custom made speakers and so have been in association with him for over 5 years now and his spirit and energy is amazing.

From this forum i have read that a Norge 1000 can easily beat a imported amp twice its price. I have visited Norge's Mahim factory and its not even close to any Denon\Yamaha types. Its just two employees making the best of what they have.

Hats off !

I have heard 1000 at Mahim. It was no near to my Marantz AVR

I always used second hand amps...my Sansui A-E970 ,which is mass market Sansui totally blew off Norge 1000 ,where 2 of another forum members were present. Ditto my experience about an average vintage kenwood .Also a forum member found that the onboard phono pre of 35 years old classic sony is far better thsn Norge one

currently another member is using a marantz set and a harman kardon - custom speakers set - defiantly his inputs will be helpful gauging exactly where norge stand..

NOTHING AGAINST NORGE , but understand sound is highly subjective and you must listen a number of systems to find out what you like . And if anyone is ready to experiment and ready for used stuff norge sound can be easily beaten in lesser budget IMHO.

My friend who is a member here has owned norge and NAD and has no good opinion of the norge. But again the price is 4x.

I wonder how good an amp bajaj can make for like 25k. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
