Norge Audio

The genre of the music you listen to, decides which amp is 'more' suitable for what other than, of course, the individual's perception of how he likes to hear the sound signature .......

The point to understand is that if you are willing to invest more , you get more (more often than not :) ).
I used to own a Norge and have graduated to Marantz. If i compare the two I find the sound signature of the Marantz more open and much more detailed than the Norge, however this after paying almost 3 times the price of a Norge amp.
It can be very easily said that from a price-performance prespective , Norge offers tremendous value for money and has a repetoire of extremely sturdy products both in amps and speakers.

Well said Wall.

I always used second hand amps...my Sansui A-E970 ,which is mass market Sansui totally blew off Norge 1000 ,where 2 of another forum members were present. Ditto my experience about an average vintage kenwood .Also a forum member found that the onboard phono pre of 35 years old classic sony is far better thsn Norge one

currently another member is using a marantz set and a harman kardon - custom speakers set - defiantly his inputs will be helpful gauging exactly where norge stand..

NOTHING AGAINST NORGE , but understand sound is highly subjective and you must listen a number of systems to find out what you like . And if anyone is ready to experiment and ready for used stuff norge sound can be easily beaten in lesser budget IMHO.

+1. Nothing against Norge. They are very good Amp given the price. Probably the best in the price range. But a Vintage Amp will definately sound better than Norge.

I have a modest Pioneer Vintage Amp which blows off my Marantz AVR any day. Even a Rs.1000 DVDP connected to this Amp sounds pretty good. Imaging how a dedicated CDP would sound.

Again nothing against Marantz. Quality used in old stuff cannot be compared to what manufacturers make these days. Obviously you can get good quality but at a preminium.

Neither is the price. Whats the point?

Just wanted to put accross my though on this.

I have been searching for an amp for 15 days now. And trust me auditioned numerous peices across all brands. I currently so not own any amp / AVR. While I think Norge is a good piece of amp at the price point but saying "it beats international brands by a margin" would be incorrect. We should look at comparing apples to apples.

Norge is a amp which is good (may be very good) for a Stereo system. Note it does not have any additional feature. Sound processing / enhancers etc.
All other AVRs have numerous other functions and features integrated into one, coupled with same power and quality in 'direct' stereo mode. Additionally they have inbuilt sound processors / enhancers.
May be comparing a Stereo amp from other internationl brands would be a decent idea, given that stereo amps from all international brands costs way more than the 'little black box' - Norger Concerto Gold 1000

Please feel free to correct me if I'm missing something.

Hi Rishi,

Can you help to understand how to connect the Sony Speakers to Norge 1000 Gold, i have 2 (Right & Left) main speakers and 3 sub-woofers. Thanks in advance.

Regards, Krishna.

The article is very interesting and inspiring. Looks like it is a real value for money product. Haven't tried it ever. But hope to add a norge amp in future, if I decide to create a separate audio setup (an alternate set up in the other room or for my mom).

Hey guys, just found an in-depth article regarding the establishment of Norge Audio & its mentor Mr. Shyam Bajaj.

Here is the link: Radio Norge

I just love my Norge 1000 GOLD even more. Guys like Mr. Shyam Bajaj should be our inspiration.

Read and enjoy.:)

Comments will be appreciated.
Request some feedback and service about the audio system of Norge. I was there last week.
