Norge vs Telome vs DNM

Hi Hemant,

What would be the approx price of Pulz RS-250; Where can I audition them .... and can they be directly connected to a sound source (CD Player, Laptop etc) or will they require a pre-amp?

Today was an interesting day! Started off with the demo of the telome power amp .
Guess who showed up at my residence this evening with the A-777 stereo amp !....the man himself - Mr. Dilip Bajaj of Pace Electronics (DNM Audio)

So we used the Akai Am-U02 as a pre amp with the power section of the A-777 and the synergy was just perfect . The Dick Smith floorstanders came into their own and shook the hall! ( my folks were nervous with the tremendous impact wondering whether the roof would cave in hahaha)

played a variety of songs from reggae to soul to r&b and slow rock. the combo handled all of em with a breeze and no distortion at an appreciably loud volume! distinct tight bass and warm treble made for easy and pleasurable listening for almost 1 hour!

we also used the a-777 as a standalone integrated with the dick smiths and that combo too rocked in all departments! The a-777 has a single level loudness toggle tab.

The a-777 retails at INR 13500/ - worth every rupee i'd say . absolute VFM !
135wpc rms @ 8ohms!

Hell will freeze over the day i "bin" my vintage Akai! Its just a matter of time before i go in for a pre-power combo. Just need some more time to decide!

Pulz RS-400 power amplifier demo

Today was set aside for a demo of the Pulz RS-400 POWER AMPLIFIER!

I'm going to have to start a new thread on 'how to find an address of an industrial estate' soon .....always running round in circles trying to figure out the maddening labyrinth of lanes /bylanes etc in amchi Mumbai

Finally tracked the address down ...met with Mr . Amit Misra and his team. The sales guy offered to demo the RS-250 as well but since its low on the output front at ~ 70w per ch i didn't show any interest!
Presenting the RS-400 power amp .....

front view - sleek solid build, no frills , neat and clean design , power button and power led

rear view - de-dented gain controls, sleek unbalanced RCA input housing, speaker outputs for a single pair only!

stacked up underneath the Akai Am-U02 for the demo

Akai AM-U02 used as the pre amp connected to the RS-400 connected to bookshelf speakers.
As per salesrep estimate...~100watts per ch into 8ohms...~140watts per ch into 6ohms ...~ 180 watts per ch into 4ohms:licklips:

We played a variety of tracks......the synergy of the akai-pulz combo was very impressive - tight bass, sweet treble....a very warm overall soundstage!

Next up was the cd player-pulz power amp direct combo and that too was impressive!

Lastly,the pulz preamp-power amp combo and once again an even better overall sonic impression! Hate to say it..:annoyed: but this combo trumped my akai-pulz combo and the difference was very noticeable much to the sheer delight of the senior manager who was thrilled to remark 'the akai adds a colouration to the sound as compared to our neutral preamp...maybe once you get it serviced it may improve a lil':indifferent14:


the RS-400 retails for ~INR 30000..

serious VFM !!!! packs a mighty punch!!

Dave ...neither you nor your brand of music ...ummm...err...noise can stump me! The Akai came into our lives when i was literally a tiny tot! i'm too attached to even think of the idea of letting it go... and besides since its 26w per ch is too weak to run my dick smiths...i wanna extend its life for some time using it as a pre amp! Its a pretty decent pre amp regardless of what any of these audio electronic dealers might think!!!!

As of 4/6/12 let me 'assign' percentages here to calm your frayed nerves :lol:......this could change overnight hyeah:

NORGE 1200 POWER - 28%

DNM INTEGRATED A-777 - 25%

TELOME 8400 POWER - 20%

PULZ RS-400 POWER - 27%

two main factors that keep shifting the balance 1) price v/s power 2) compatibility with the DSE AE-2922 floorstanders.

Hmmm, I see this amp 'saga' of yours to be not nearing its logical conclusion in the near future :lol:

As for frayed nerves, I'm afraid Mr. Shyam Bajaj, Dilip Bajaj, Terence & Amit Misra will be the ones collectively hatching a plan to give you some 'fraying'

Will be watching the spectacle with glee

And the winnr is ......NORGE ! So its gonna be the 1200 power amp! hyeah::yahoo: The Pulz 400 came in a close second but lost out due to two reasons 1) it didn't sound superior at all to the Norge 2) the vulgar price!

FINALLY....FINALLY.....after all the research and paranoia ....finally picked up a DNM A-777 stereo integrated amplifier today! hyeah:

So with this unit, i get the flexibility to bridge two integrated amps - the AM-U02 as a preamp and the A-777 as the poweramp !

'burn in' in progress and i'm loving the synergy .....:yahoo:
