Onkyo ht-s3400 pros & cons

i am reading all that. biju tell one thing whether should i buy onkyo s3400 worth Rs 23000 or denon 1311xp worth Rs 29000.

Since you have narrowed down to two models, I think you must audition them at the stores to take a decision.

Hi

I am also planning to buy a HT around the same time and till now I have my mind set on Onkyo s3400. But I am open to suggestions. Since I am also in Delhi, may be we can go go for a group buy and bargain. If there are any others who are interested please join in.

By the way has anyone heard of any deals coming up around the festival time?

@mks sharma

the price that you are quoting is it from the onkyo store in Kalkaji or somewhere else?

i just want a system which could decode 6 channel dolby/dts files in pass through mode i.e, RAW....either HDMI or S/PDIF...

except this code file(attached) no other file worked (optical s/pdif pass through) in my home theatre, whether ac3 or other dts files codes pic.jpg

Get Onkyo HT-S3300 or HT-S3400. Its can decode all (DTS, DD, DTS-HD, DD-THD, DTS-MA, DD+)

In this case you haven't set up your media player software correctly and/or Windows audio settings, that's why you are not able to get DTS/DD output correctly.
First of all get rid of VLC. It "used" to be a good/universal player.
Follow the steps mentioned here

hey guys
is it possible to play files with onkyo s3400 avr + lg speakers (3oms, 120w each)
i heard that either avr or speakers will b harmed because they r not compatible..

3 ohms speakers can cause damage to the AVR and if you do want to use it, then don't turn the volume above a safe limit.

I will buy HT-S3400 around diwali from Gurgaon. Last quote was for Rs. 25K, whereas if I buy online from ebay India with B&W, its same price. And i will also get 500GB HDD, so better to buy online if dealer from Gurgaon isn't giving any discounts.

I am not sure if you are interested to join in and we can check any group buy deal from dealer for same model.

Anybody interested from Delhi/Gurgaon for Onkyo HT-S3400, please PM me.

Why you need to pair LG speakers with S3400? Ht-S3400 is HTIB and comes with speakers. I also have samsung speakers of about same rating and I plan to dispose them off, dunt want to burn my AVR.

First thing you need to decide,

1) Your budget (Is the budget given by you inclusive of speakers)
2) Usage pattern - Movies/Music/Games
3) Room size
4) Is it going to be dedicated HT room/Living Room

If u are not into too much of HiFi, Onkyo HT-S3400 is your best option.

Onkyo HT-S3400 Pros

1) Budget friendly
2) Support for various formats
3) HDMI1.4 with 3D and ARC support
4) Easy installation

Onkyo HT-S3400 Cons

1) Not awesome for serious music listening (but VFM)
2) No Active Subwoofer
3) No upscaling (Can be managed with a decent DVD/Blu-ray player)
