Guys just to tell u that when i asked the dealer for out of ebay deal he was ready for 23k. Hope this info helps u guys.
in that case, i will prefer 500 GB HDD worth Rs. 2500....why not ask him to list items worth Rs. 5000 (blue ray player) and get 1TB HDD free...:yahoo:
even at 24K, with 2.5K worth HDD, it works out to be 21.5K..which is a steal...btw not sure why he has listed same product twice at 24K and 24.9K..anybody having clues...

Yeah i got the bill and after confirming with onkyo north head Mr. santosh Jha, that if it will be covered under warranty or not, he confirmed that yes they are the dealer in kanpur and it would be under warranty.
So i was quite relieved adter hearing this, because at the end its a validpurchase

So i was quite relieved adter hearing this, because at the end its a validpurchase

Finally after a lot of search across various Croma, Vijay Sales and other Onkyo dealers, managed to buy HT-S3400 from Vijay Sales Goregaon.
Any guess for price ?
Its flat 20K :yahoo: With LG BD player it was 25 K. Instead of LG I opted for Sony BDP 380
The HT was freshly shipped from Malaysia and Aug 2011 mfd. Waiting for setup to complete within 2-3 days.

That's great. But all the onkyo directly imported without onkyo india's consent are deemed to be out of warranty as confirmed with onkyo helpline. If it was imported from malaysia directly by vijay sales and not through company it is supposed to be a grey market item even if they provide you with their own bill.
You can confirm with onkyo.
Do check it friend before you go ahead. It is just an advice

Thanks for the concern. Checked with Vijay Sales. Its 1 yr warranty. They have noted sr. nos on bill. As per them Onkyo india would be calling within couple of days for Demo.
I have unpacked the piece and kept it as it is w/o any connection.
Checked te box again. On the box it says -
Importer - Onkyo sight & Sound India Pvt Ltd , No.3 Sriram nagar South St Alwarpet, Chennai - 18
Manufacture Name and address - ONKYO SOUND AND VISION CORPORATION ( The address is of Malaysia which is lengthy hence not writing
MFD on - Aug -11
Imported on - 16 Sept - 2011
There are also further info like Import Invoice No, Customer Care for which address is of Chennai.
So I guess its a piece imported by Onkyo India :licklips: !!

I am looking out for movable wall mounting brackets for the speakers. I am finding it difficult to get as speakers do not have threading at the back as those have only key hole for hanging on the wall which is fixed and can't moved.
Any idea where I could get those in Mumbai ?

Guys, I had a chat with Mr. Jha, and he said though Kanpur dealer is authorised, but he can't sell though internet. Mr. Santosh said company will not consider warranty if sold on internet.
There is a new warning on Onkyo website - ONKYO INDIA
Then i had a chat with Dhruv and he said, they can sell on internet and warranty will be valid as they will provide authentic B&W.
It seems Mr. Jha is under pressure from Delhi dealers. I am shocked if Vijay sales can sell same system with LG Blue ray player for Rs. 25K, why such a bad customer experience for Delhi NCR folks.
Is there another escalation point for Mr. Santosh Jha for clarifications. As Onkyo worldwide has much of its sales done online. So, why shoudl a consumer not get benefit of internet. This is cartelisation and against interests of consumer.
Mr. Jha even went to an extent to quote that Kanpur dealer has been served notice and his dealership will get cancelled in 10 days
now i am wondering whether it makes sense to buy on ebay.
There are so many websites who sell products of Sony/Philips and others at prices much below what are sold in showrooms - coz they can have lesser margins - no need to maintain expensive showrooms - and it actually helps a consumer.
I am not happy and will take it to a conclusion. Onkyo India should not do it to consumers.

After reading your posts after purchasing my onkyo from the same dealer i highly got worried. My confusion was going to very high extent. So i decided to contact onkyo india and confirm if the dealer is authorised and if i got the correct item or not. I called up the onkyo helpline and just told them that i purchased onkyo( not refering to the internet purchase) from kanpur dealer and told them the serial number of the set. I was glad to know that my purchase was authorised and i will be covered under warranty. Now i do not have to worry about buying further from ebay as its just another way to go for warranty and not the usual way
