First thing you need to decide,

1) Your budget (Is the budget given by you inclusive of speakers)
2) Usage pattern - Movies/Music/Games
3) Room size
4) Is it going to be dedicated HT room/Living Room

If u are not into too much of HiFi, Onkyo HT-S3400 is your best option.

1) Budget friendly
2) Support for various formats
3) HDMI1.4 with 3D and ARC support
4) Easy installation

Onkyo HT-S3400 Cons

1) Not awesome for serious music listening (but VFM)
2) No Active Subwoofer
3) No upscaling (Can be managed with a decent DVD/Blu-ray player)

I will buy HT-S3400 around diwali from Gurgaon. Last quote was for Rs. 25K, whereas if I buy online from ebay India with B&W, its same price. And i will also get 500GB HDD, so better to buy online if dealer from Gurgaon isn't giving any discounts.

I am not sure if you are interested to join in and we can check any group buy deal from dealer for same model.

Anybody interested from Delhi/Gurgaon for Onkyo HT-S3400, please PM me.

From the information gleaned from the internet it appears that the Kalkaji dealer provides a better bargain - the last quoted price on the net was 23,500. Hence I was thinking it would make more sense bargaining with him. Someone from Kochi on this forum quoted a price of 22,000 - so one could bargain for that or lower.

Since you have narrowed down to two models, I think you must audition them at the stores to take a decision.

Well for delhi the set was despatched on 26th and was delivered on 28th. Here is the tnt tracking number 607652440. It was sealed as earlier told and new unused piece, also i left him a positive feedback and another guy also left him a positive on for onkyo hts3400 only, so i think he might be trusted.

Dude seriously its an awesome set, a real value for money. After listening almost 15 different htib of various brands i zeroed on this model keeping in mind the price tag, quality of sound and looks. For me its 10/10 purchase

The bass is quite decent but i like it more on treble especislly the high vocal notes, so this piece solves my problem quite well.

If u r looking for a decent sound system which is not too heavy on ur pocket then it is the model. Plus am moreexcited coz i got a 500gb hdd alongwith it so now my movies n music are not too messed up after all.
