Hi Guys
Am i posting my queries in the wrong forums?
I am not getting any replies to my queries.

Could any one of you experts out there help me please!!!

Thanks

Patience is a virtue my friend!
Ok, HTS-3300 Sub is not the best in my opinion. But, it will do well for movies.
But yes, The active sub on 5xxx series is definitely a step up.
Why don't you find a place where you can demo both? Somewhere, they have placed speakers properly and setup a proper listening room? I'm sure you will have such a place in Pune

If ur only talking of onkyo HTIB then 5300 will have a slightly better sub than 3300, good enough for upto 140-160 sft rooms, also it varys on personal taste, should cost under 35k in India.

Hi Guys
Thanks for you replies.
Is there any other HTIB that i can get in this price range which has better specifications.

Thanks

Hi
Does anyone know what is the price of onkyo ht-s5300 in india?

I am getting a quote of around 48K on ebay.in from international seller.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks
Vishal

You will get for 48000 Rs Locally with Warranty.no need to import no warranty and you may need to buy step down transformer if it works on 110 V Rec.(Additional cost)

You can get a 5300 for like 35-40k from shopyourworld.com including shipping, customs, transformer too etc.

For close to 45-50k you can get a 6300 or 7200 and for around 55-60k you can get a 9300.

I was about to finalize HTS3300, but by then one of my friend came up with another point. He says HTS3300 speakers is only a single unit i.e. the tweeter and woofer are not seperate but in a single unit. This will not give good sound replication. He is asking to go for HTS5300 which seems to have tweeter and woofer seperate (although I am yet to confirm it). What do you think? HTS5300 is not really in my budget, I do not want to unnecessarily extend my budget to buy it...But he is putting me into confusion. My priority is basically to watch movies. I am not that interested in listening to music. Do you feel 3300 is sufficient for my needs?

Depends on what you are currently used to.

If you are used to anything less than a Sony/Philips, then Onkyo 3300 would be a good jump, else it would be just okay.

You can get 5300 for sub 40k the way i told you earlier.

Are you saying that 3300 is equivalent to a Sony/ Philips?
Then better to go for a Philips HT with 3D angled speakers, which would be quite new in technology. Please correct me if I am wrong.
:)

I believe Onkyo is definitely much superior than any dvd-player cum reciever HT (sony, philips).
Guys I would like to know where you are getting the 5300 deal for sub 40K. The price I am getting in Mumbai is 52K. surprises me!

hey.. i too was quoted 52k in Mumbai.. at The Shop, Andheri..

I am also considering the onkyo 5300..

However, i don't have a wall on one side.. So, the guy there suggested i can put the speakers front speakers normally and surround L/R little higher up on the front wall and rear surrounds L/R normally at the rear..

he said Audessey correction would take care of it and produce good sound similar to 7.1.. is this right?? is this possible?!

If this is possible i guess i will just go for the 5300 as my other option is a Wharfedale Obsidian paired with a 508 amp(Which the guy said is discontinued.).. and the latter will cost me 70k..

Hi guys, i just want to know the sounds quality of hts5300 produce when it comes to music. I'm planning to get this system within this week and i will currently use it for watching blu-ray but more on listening to music.
Hope someone could share their reviews, thanks.

Hey Guys, i found Yamaha SW215 Subwoofer very promising for music and movies as well. If anyone is planning to get seperate components then i would suggest that take a look at this woofer also. There's one more woofer 315 which is better than 215 in terms of wattage and size but i guess if you have a normal room then 215 is sufficient enuf.

Cheers..!!!

Me and my friend auditioned 3300 and 5300 @ Onkyo's Alwarpet showroom couple of months back. Performance wise 5300 is way better than 3300, may be something to do with us listening to 5300 first and then to 3300. Mr. Sai helped us with the demo,he clearly explained us with the features of both the packages and cited the main difference between the two is that 5300 has an active sub whereas 3300 has a passive one. He played some tracks from Eagles, clips from Haunting. 5300's low end performance was good, we could feel the bass in the room, which we couldn't when the same one was played in 3300. The vocals were clearer in 5300, than 3300. We both came out with only one thing in mind, if it is either of the two, then it should be 5300. But again 5300 is in the 50K region, I don't remember the 3300 price. If you have a budget in your mind, then the best thing you can do is go and get a demo of these two and decide yourself. Hope this helps.
