Panasonic 50UT50 urgent purchase in Bangalore - best price

Ok cool. The Panasonic official shop was setting up the ST50 on display this saturday. They were opening the box..so didnt stick around to watch it. He obviously was quoting the mrp so not much use

I received a call from Panasonic brand shop today (Baner Road, Pune). The representative said that P50UT50D is in stock now and will be put up on display tomorrow. The indicative price is 85K with 2 3D glasses (website says no glasses).

Pune shops are notorious on "no bargains" (???? ?? ?? ??, ???? ???? ??? (????)) attitude.

Check this out in your cities.

Its MRP is 97k so even 80k can be bargained. However ST50 is a big leap for the price - neo plasma panel, Infinite black filter, 8 tran speaker or something, Wifi built in, 2 3D glasses included yada yada yada... :clapping:

Is this is correct ?
VT > GT > ST
Which one should i go for ? My requirements are 3d.
Yes. That is true. To complete the equation:

VT > GT > ST > UT > XT/X

But some people claim that XT/X (the today's 50 series) are better that UT. UT50 is not seen in market/demo.

And you have not specified what size you are looking at.

When it comes to 3D alone as a factor, the series does not matter because inherent quality of the series will trickle down to 3D also.

In my honest opinion, VT and GT are almost equal. The VT models are available in 65" size only. The 50" VT models are from the old stock and quite likely to be demo pieces. So unless you are ready to shell out 3 lacs or thereabout (for 65VT50), 50GT50 or 42GT50 is the best money can buy.

But then again, the difference between GT and ST is also not too much.

I called on the brand shop on Baner Road (????? ???) yesterday - he had still not put up the TV on display.

ST & GT Series are not yet available in the brand shop in Chennai. The reps told me that the same will be available in another 15 days time.
GT50 1.38 offered 1.29
ST50 1.15 offered 1.10
XT50 is offered at 59500 + XH170 HT comes as a package.

42UT50 is offered at 62K as a discount sale and if you can bargain you may get the HT as well.
I am looking for 50" Plasma and I am still confused now. :(c

Anyways I have decided to wait and watch till Diwali so that the prices might drop at little and you can aslo bargain a little.

What do you guys suggest?

Another TV you might consider is samsung 51e550 for 78K with 3d blu ray player worth 10K. Advantage is that its cheaper, one inch bigger and since 3d is your priority, glasses cheap at 1.5k each. On the flip side it comes with only 1 year warranty compared to 3 yrs for the panasonic.

In terms of PQ, it is atleast comparable or better than the Panny till UT series. ST and above am sure is better but also cost 30-50% more

Congrats...thats a big investment. You mentioned you watch a lot of BDs - you buy them? rent them? download? just wondering since the era of BDs in India is yet to start. MRP of even telugu movies is at 999!!!

I buy blu-ray discs from Amazon. They cost Rs. 750 on an average.

cool. I have already downloaded few 3d movies in anticipation of the impending purchase!!!

and to compensate for the paap of illegal downloads, already identified few blurays that I will order from Amazon website:

(1) 1 Pixar 3d Blu ray - either UP or Toy story 3
(2) Planet Earth and Life box set region free for around 35 pounds

All I need now is the TV!!!!!!

Whats your budget?

Thats the difficult question RajatK....!!!

You see, i was never interested in TV more than my normal ctv 21 inches till a month or so. then one day my friend insisted to accompany him to buy LED tv. Thats where I was terribly infected with this "HDTV disease".

I initally thought of settling for 42" LG 3D LM7600 (95K) that is now my last option now after reading about Plasma TV's :p) but after reading this forum and learning more from you guys I have touched to about 1.2K (considering GT50 series)

I am in no hurry to buy , and as someone mentioned here, I will wait and buy what I love to have, rather than crib later...

My actual allocated budget is no more than 75K.... a little stretch "may" be possible... as I said I have no option to wait and watch.

I think that you are making a good choice by going the plasma way. Note that LED is not a bad choice for most situations. And even the die-hard plasma fan will agree that looks wise LED is just too sexy.

The GT series is one notch above ST series. GT has 500k of extra contrast, double the gray shades and is THX certified. Looks wise it has dual tone metallic colour frame. For this, an extra 20k or so is expected from the buyer.

I felt that I may not be able to do justice to the higher specs :p and hence went with ST50.

Welcome to the club buddy - here is my recommendation for you at different price points:

~100K -> Panasonic 50ST50
~75-80K -> Panasonic 50UT50 (Free HT), Samsung 51E550 (Free BDP)
~65K -> Panasonic 50XT50, LG 50PA6500

Rajat, Thanks for your inputs..and I will take your suggestion as well.
Meanwhile, whats the best LED 3d tv? I have seen LGLM7600 which is only one that I have seen so far... any other nominations to consider ?;)

LED TVs that may be considered:

~100k: Sony 40HX850/46HX750/46NX720, Samsumg 6 Series 46"
Below 100k: there are many models but in my opinion they are not really worth considering vis-a-vis plasma

Many (LED fans) may disagree but LEDs are best in LG LM6600 series and above, or Samsung 6 Series and above or Sony NX720 series and above (NX720, HX750, HX850, HX925, etc.)
